Hey Guys/Gals,
I was cruising through my Decision book and when I got to 13-4/24 Stance in Bunker Taken Without Club I had to read the last paragraph a few too many times. 13-4/25 & 13-4/26 clear-up a lot of debris but in the last paragraph of 13-4/24 things get crazy in my mind. The book states "If it were ruled otherwise, a player would be in breach of Rule 13-4 if he selected a club for a bunker shot, took his stance with the club in hand and then decided to play a stroke with another club." WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT? I have never seen the book say "If it were ruled otherwise"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMOP this is worded poorly and hopefully will be revised.
Thanks,
Lake

You make it sound like ithe rules are already well worded.....
I think the rule had to do with "testing the conditions" or something to that effect....
E.g. player with no club or same club digging in to practice swing is getting a feel for the shot...
However if player decides to change clubs he's then determined to have "tested the ground condition?"
However I remember it happening to a few tour pros before where they have caught by this when they decided to play another club.....however where they had dug in for "practice swings" stepped away, then dug in again to setup to hit with the same club or no club it was fine.

If you can get the chance take a look at that Decision...maybe its just me but I can't remember ever seeing this style of explanation where they said "if were it ruled otherwise"...I guess it sounds to me like they are saying if the rules official messed-up and gave the wrong ruling...I don't know it just came across to me WEIRD. The next two decisions following clear up the mess for me though!!
Thanks,
Lake
