Starting Dec 1, Instead of logging into the GolfWRX with your username, it will be with your email address instead. Your username will not change and will still be displayed as always, just when logging into the board, it will be with your email address and current GolfWRX password.

If you don't remember what email address you registered for the site with or want/need to change it, please look in your control panel by clicking on this link:

Just curious - why? Additional security or something?

GolfWRX will be introducing new functionality into the site and in order to be able to login into the new features, the user login method needs to be changed for interoperability. It should also help those who may have forgotten what username they may have chosen before.

This change only effects when initially logging into the board. Your username and GolfWRX password will not change. Just the GolfWRX login name will be by email address.

Bump to top.

Does this mean if we have our UN/PW saved we'll be forced to re-login that day or will the cookie keep the user logged in?
Gxgolfer
You will need to relogin as the saved information would not be applicable.

Good to know. Thanks! I hope that everyone reads this so that they can log in on Dec. 1 and after.

I am concerned about this...

Is this going to increase the amount of spam emails we receive? Why else would the site need a constantly refreshed email address from its members?

Increase the amount of spam emails? How many do you receive now from us? Besides an occasional newsletter we send out, we don't share or sell email addresses of our members and don't plan to at this point. The login method changes to the email address you registered as to cut back support issues and prepares the site forward for expansion. It is not asking you to validate it. Again, as stated before, the login method is being changed to build out additional features for the site. To date, we have not sold or exchanged the GolfWRX email database with any sponsor or vendor. Email validation and human double checking is currently being done to control spam on the board.

Will there be a reminder at the login page for those who may not have signed onto the board since the announcement?
Gxgolfer
absolutely,

yes

The Change has gone into effect. Please use the login email address when registering. New users can still pick a username and it is highly recommended not to use your email address.
