well, I could post some pics, but it's just a standard Newport Mid that I cut down. However, with the 370 gram head, it has sweet weighting that I was looking for. I cut it from 43 inches to 32.5 and put a sweet Winn grip on it. Great weight. Anyone else do this?

might want to check weighting out on it...i have been to the studio and they dont like cutting down because it messes the weighting up but if it works make the putts

Many people prefer a heavy head for the shorter putter--this is no exception. The fact that it was orginally made as a belly putter is irrelevant so long as the lie angle works at 32.5 inches.

I've been looking for a shorter putter solution for quite awhile. I prefered the weight of the 350 gram head of the Newport 2 in 33 inches, but they don't make the Newport in 33 inches and I like the look of the Newport better.

The Newport Mid came with a 370 gram head, so cutting off 10.5 inches actually keeps the overall weight of the club greater than a Newport 2 with a 350 gram head. It's really an ideal solution if you need a Newport, but have to have a shorter club than 35 inches. the 330 gram head in the Newport for a 35 inch putter is too light for me...especially after it was cut down.

I looked all over ebay and really only the MilSpec was close in competition, but they were all over $200. I got this for $145 on ebay and paid $5 to cut it down. They were able to keep my old Winn grip that I love so for $150 out the door, I have a sweet 370 gram 32.5 inch Newport Studio design.

If you want to keep the overall weight down, then do what I did - use a lightweight steel iron shaft.

I used a Dynamic Gold SL - you can use Dynalie Gold SL or TX-90 or NS Pro 950 if you want the swingweight a bit lower. Just add tape to the butt if you find it too small. Make sure to tip the shaft so that it will have similar flex characteristics to the regular putter shaft.

This solution works very well. I have made some personal bests with this cutdown mid putter including 22 putts in one round and 5 straight birdies in another from the tips.
