such a nice swing...for reference:
golfdigestI was playing with him in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 last night and wondering what ever happened to him?
wasn't he supposed to be the next big thing?

The last I heard he was playing the smaller tours (Hooters).
The kid should of gone to college and learned to compete. He wanted to be Tiger to soon in his career. Heck, even Tiger went to college for 2 years before he came out. To many people telling him that he is the next greatest thing to come along (ie Wie). Stay in school and learn to WIN in the amateur ranks before you take on the big boys (or girls).

There was a piece on him on Golf Central about two or three weeks ago. I believe he had gone to Q school to try and gain a PGA tour card. Not sure though. Like a lot players (take Aaron Baddeley for example and there are many more I could name) a lot of hype surrounds these players when they first burst onto the scene. It's then quite hard for them to live up to it. They believe they should be doing better because the press thinks they can.

I think Tryon shot 66 on the final day of Q-school to make it on the number (or close to it). That shows real potential right there. Unfortunately for TT, having potential and living up to it are two different things. I'm sure it has been really hard for him--especially to have this happen at such a young age.

He played the first two rounds of 2nd stage with someone I know. TT shot +2 for those 2 rounds and eventually missed getting to Q school finals. According to the guy I know, TT hits it a mile but has very little idea where it is going. Also, he said that if TT could putt, he would have shot in the mid to high 60's.

Unfortunately I see him all the time at Bay Hill. His dad Bill is a member out there and Ty is such a tool (and thats putting it nicely). He does have potential but his dad gave him everything in life so he didn't want to go to college to learn to compete because he would have to work for something. He wanted everything right away like a spoiled little rich kid (which he his). Sorry for the rant but Ty and I don't really get along very well.........

Maybe Ty's dad should have made him run laps for missing putts...

Fell on his arse in second stage!
Has to go back to the mini tour school of hard knocks for another year and write letters to sponsors to see if he can get a start somewhere on the Nationwide Tour.
(Maybe he did turn pro waaay to young!

)
Question should have been, "What happened to David Gossett?!"

true, David has completely fallen off the map. A few years ago it was all about the Young Guns and it seems many have failed miserably

I thought about David Gossett, but it seems to me that Ty's swing is much better than David's

There is one player on tour who reminds me of what Ty is going though and that player is Justin Rose. Remember he was a can't miss then he missed like 20 or more cuts in a row. He has battled back and worked on his game and has become a player out on tour. Hope Ty continues to work hard and someday will make it out.
