California/Arizone experts, my wife and I are going to Scottsdale area later this month to take lessons from the LaBauves. We will be in the La Quinta area long enough for one day of golf. Then in the Scottsdale area for maybe 3 days of golf. May I have your suggestions for where to play while we're in the area? Thanks.

I spent last year working in the Scottsdale area as an Assistant Golf Professional at Wildfire Golf Club. I have since left the area but for a recomendation I would suggest playing Grayhawk- Raptor as the PGA Tour has an event there this week. I would also suggest maybe playing Kierland since you are taking instruction from the LaBuave's, it has a great layout. SunRidge Canyon in Fountain Hills is one of my favorites. Also We-Ko-Pa would be a great choice. Have a great trip, I hope you enjoy the LaBuave's as much as I enjoyed working with Ken Carpenter who worked a lot with Mike at Kierland.

Have been to Scottsdale several times, with the same group of players. We try to play different courses every trip, but one course continually pops up for replay...Troon North. While I've yet to play any that I would review poorly, and all of the aforementioned courses are good, I would definitaly play Troon over any of them. My $.02

I was thinking of Grayhawk and Kierland. As for the LaBauve's, there are no One Plane Swing pros in Hawaii, so Mike LaBauve seemed like a good choice. My wife likes watching Sandy LaBauve's videos on Golflink so that should work too. Thanks for the help.

I had a friend who used to live in Scottsdale and played Troon North. He always spoke highly of it. Sounds like a good recommendation. Thanks.

Gold Canyon - Dinosaur is #1 in my book, then Troon North, then the Boulders Resort. Grayhawk is nice, especially conditioning, but you won't remember one hole from any others. Wi Ko Pa is also good. Dinosaur is an experience that you can't get anywhere else. So is boulders.

Dinosaur?!? Hell, with that name it's got to be unusual. I'll take a look at Dinasaur and Boulders. Thanks.
