day 1 - step off airplane, get the rental, walk 9 at the puerto del sol public exec course... we had only 3 hours and managed that 9 in there. it is cheap, low budget, dog track, but there was no wait and it was something like 17$? to walk, or less, i can't remember... some par4's and had ot get use to the altitude which was 1.5 clubs and/or 10% difference...

day 2. (recommended by schlebrock) Pakko http://www.paakoridge.com/ OH MY GOD. 99$, worth more. loved it. the chief whiner in our group was floored by it and said every single hole was good. it was hard but fair and even balls lost of the tee were generally findable in the cactus patches. it windes through some canyon like areas and every fairway was nice and all the greens were nice. it was as good as it gets in any state. all 8 guys were amazed by it. hole 17 view from the blues can not be topped period... and there were other ones that were outstanding. nice pro shop clothing and stuff to pick up, nice people. played pretty fast.

day 3. Santa Ana . ho hum, nothingn special but only 50$. i had a real hard time even with gps (probably best to have the course planner book thing instead in this case) of where to aim the ball off the tee. the fairways seemed to be hidden from the tee boxes. it looked nice enough, but i was not impressed and would generally skip it if it was a single course trip. clubhouse was blah, whole thing windy, rough was completely unfair and the way off rough was lost ball city.

day 4. there was no day 4 i am at the airport flying back!!!! sillies! i was at a conference , it was golf that we arranged when we could before/ during it...

ps.. altitude more distance, but MORE sun and MORE MORE MORe headaches due to the air. DRINK water all the time and keep people off of the booze. water water water...

stuff to do.... uh, albuquerque is not full of stuff to do, i was busy when not at the golfing at a conference, so someone else could point you people somewhere...

I agree with your review of Paako. It is truly incredible and I can't wait to go back. I played 41 holes there in one day with my golf group a couple of years ago. The last last 8-10 holes are a little fuzzy, as we were hammered. The staff was actually bringing bloody mary's to us on the course, 16 at a time.

Absolutely b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l.
