i've got an Ogio with the Schling, and i'm really starting to hate it...

so i'm looking for a new walking bag, lightweight, with a reliable, sturdy set of legs, and comfortable straps...
ccpgolf
Go with the vantage. Great bad overall with good storage space and size even though sometimes the legs try to kill you.

LOL. I also have a Schling and I am totally sick of the gimmick. It isn't comfortable enough for me, and I don't like that I can't just pick up the bag with one strap. I am thinking about a Nike bag with the air mesh straps...anyone wanna buy a Schling? I'll make it a hell of a deal!
Diesel
it was good for me last year cause my shoulders were more "bulky", as i was in the gym alot before i took up golf...

since then, my shoulders aren't the same and i can't find a setting for the Schling i like, plus i think the bag is kinda heavy compared to alot of the other bags i've felt...

i just bought into the 1 hand on/off thing last year...
icec0ld
i would definitely say get the vantage. i had last years model and the legs sucked but this years model they added the classic leg strap that were on all the previous models so it seems like the legs wont attempt to kill you this year.

Ping Mite-E-Lite. Light and easy to adjust.

i have a vantage and have had 2 ogios. i currently use an older model titleist. IMHO, titleist stand/carry bags (made by sun mountain) are tops - best combination of quality of construction, features, stand/legs and comfortable strap system.

i would take a serious look at the new X86/87/88 bags.

PING Vantage. I love this bag; I have 2. Make sure you get the 2008 model(it will show 2008 on one of the tags) and the legs won't try to kill you. One handed on and off, retractable right arme strap, the left arm strap doesn't get wound up and twisted, rain cover works very well in/out clubs.

I returned the Vantage and got a Titleist X87 by Sun Mountain. I did not like the Vantage's retractable strap (felt flimsy to me), the lack of a putter well, and the beverage holder was too small. The X87 to me has better pocket layout and i love the tripod feet on the legs. I also use Titleist balls, gloves and putter, so i went with the X87. give it or any of the X8_ series a try, you may like the lightweight X86.

Have to chime in.

I just picked up a Hoofer Vantage '08 model. It's atomic orange/silver/grey.....(which is the coolest color combo ever!). I got it for the color scheme. Switched from a Titleist X76. Previous bag before the X76 was another PING Hoofer.

I prefer the Titleist bag. Most comfortable carry straps I have ever used. One drawback is that it is a pain to carry with one strap only...but I got over that quickly. It became second nature to use both shoulders.

The drink pocket on the Hoofer is worthless. 20 oz. Gatorade is a painful fight.

There is a handle featured on the Titleist bag at the top of the bag. Once you start using that to lug it in and out of the trunk or on and off of golf carts.....you get spoiled. I wish the Hoofer had that handle.

The legs on the Titleist are 10000000000000000 times better. What is the deal with PING and those farking legs? They can't seem to get it right....ever.

Rain cover on the Titleist is much better quality.

Otherwise....they are pretty much the same. Storage pockets are personal preference. Hoofer seems to have more, but both are roomy enough to carry what you need.

So I am on the look out for a bright orange Titleist bag.

I have always had PING's because of school teams and I really do like the Vantage a lot. However I absolutely hate the legs on PING bags. Other that that, it's a great bag- the retractable strap system is pretty cool. You used to always see teams with PING bags but lately there has been a shift; there's a lot of Nike bags out there and a few teams carry Titleist, but I'd still say 90%+ college guys carry PING.

I loved my old Hoofer bag but it was time for a new bag. I got the Ping Latitude bag. Had a big
issue with the club dividers and downsized apparel pocket. ended up with a Titleist X87. As I've
written in another thread. The X87 has the best carry straps I've used. Tons of practical storage.

I like that bag! I've only seen pictures so far......is the body of the bag white......or silver? Everything says silver but it looks white to me......

I have to agree with you on the Titleist bags being great though. Have owned my share of Hoofer iterations over the years and now have an X76. The X76 is a great bag all the way around and the handle at the top is the a great feature I thought I wouldn't care about.

Just picked one up at Edwin Watts today. You're right......it's definitely a cool bag. One of the best color combo's I've seen on a Hoofer since the brown tweed man_in_love.gif It's much better than the pictures. Ping really needs work on that, their pictures are horrible.......

Saw the new PING Hoofer Vantage in Atomic Orange/Grey/Silver at the local store today, and it is puuuuuurdy. But the legs SUCKED! The legs on this bag make the legs on my Ogio Vaporlite look like they were designed by engineering geniuses.

The legs got tangled up; they were not easy to deploy; they didn't deploy at the same length/width. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. WTF PING?!?
ace036
I used to be a PING bag fan...BUT...My Titleist X-87 is by far the best stand bag I have ever had or tired. I would definitely check it out.
Avenged
pings new 2 bags the lattitude and freestyle are horrendous wacko.gif
DaveyH
My freestyle is great!!
I think theyre basically a hoofer extreme with a bit of a different colour scheme with random pieces of metal!

I love ping Hoofers. I have 4 of them but I was using a Nike Carry bag for work and i got rained on and the bag was bone dry inside. Even the paper in the outside pocket didnt get wet. Ive never seen a carry bag not leak before so I would look into them also.

Anyone use the Sun mountain MPB bag? Kinda leanin towards that one since its a crossover.
Golf472
Just bought my second Titleist bag. I am keeping the same model just three years newer.
X48 to a X78. I even got the same color scheme, red white and blue.
drscott266
Definitely another vote for the Titty x87 bag. I was a Hoofer fan, and almost pulled the trigger on the Vantage until the pro shop recommended the Titleist. All I can say is this is a much better bag from top to bottom, especially in the legs... the hoofer almost seemed to want to fall over even when it wasnt windy. More pockets, more club storage with less tangle, and pretty decent color choices. The x8_ series is definitely worth a look, I didnt much care for the x88, but the x87 is a really a flagship carry bag in my mind. Its a little heavy, but that doesnt bother me, as its only by a pound or so. The straps are also quite solid, so it feels good being carried.
BogeyTrain
How does the Titleist x-87 compare to the Sun Mountain version, any difference?

I don't understand why the Ping loyalists still claim it is such an awesome bag when they haven't been able to figure out the legs after so many model releases?
drscott266
I agree, the Ping legs are some of the worst i have ever seen. That being said, the Hoofer is a great looking bag, and the retractable stap was an option I didnt think i would have liked, but actually did. The x87 was a surprise favorite of mine, and i dont think i would switch back to Ping any time soon.

Are there any online shops that carry the x87? I usually use TGW.com for online shopping and for some reason they don't carry this model...
