Well I would consider myself your "normal" golfer. I don't have the funds to go out and buy a $200 putter, so my search is still going for a decent putter within my means (aka that the wife will allow me to spend lol).

I came across the Ray Cook series and I'm really interested in the Blue Goose #1, but I don't know much about the company or their putters.

Right now I'm pretty much stuck to the putters at the local Dicks, etc, which I'm not in favor of.

The only reason the RAY COOK BLUE GOOSE BG 1 caught my eye is because of the price tag, and it's the style of putter I'm looking for.

P.S. If any of you putter junkies have anything collecting dust...let me know lol.

This was one of the first milled putters to come to the mass market. It came out in 1989 or 90. If I remember correctly, Scotty Cameron was working for Ray Cook at that time and may have been the designer. I'm sure the Cameronescenti will provide more definitive info on this.

Anyway, like any putter, if you like the way it feels, the way it looks, the way it rolls the ball, and most importantly if it gets the ball in the hole for you, buy it.

My first putter was a Ray Cook Blue Goose #2. I originally ordered a #1 but they got in the wrong one. Still played with the #2 for years and years and loved the putter. I'd say you can't go wrong with a Blue Goose. Great feel and one of the first to mill faces on putters.

As for putters, it's not the price, but the feel and confidence it gives you. If a $5 putter works for you, then go for it. If a $200 putter works for you, then go for that.

I have a putter that I may be looking offload in the near future. It's a Bridgestone PX-2 reshafted with a heavy putter shaft if you're interested. Let me know and good luck!

I have two say cook Blue goose putters and the the best or the original one with the slot or floating face. Makes a distint sound when you hit the ball. another clue to the orignal is that the goose must be swiming and he is on the toe of putter. tha cavity will have no writing and you can see the mill whrils there. I just purchased a tour model ray cook from a ex pga tour caddy . It belionged to a nationwide and part time tour player named stiles mitchell. go to ebay and look up this item its the putter i purchased and you would not believe the mill grooves on the face. Will post pic later
ebay item number: 230225178812

I have an older one with the slot like sonny is talking about, and I love it. I've putted a cameron circa62 and this putter side-by-side and could not tell a difference. I love my Blue Goose and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

You cannot go wrong with any style of the milled Blue Goose putters. I used to have the Napa style BG VIII (I think), man that was a nice putter, I should have kept it.
