Am interested in the Scotty Center Shafted Newports but am not keen to splash the cash.

I have a few Scottys already, and was thinking of playing about with my Mid Sur, which is already cut down to 35 inches. I was perusing Slighter Golf's website and saw the attached putter refinish:-

(In case it doesn't appear on this post it relates to a Studio Style which has been center shafted and given a Black Oxide, or similar, finish. The neck is much shorter too.)

The head weight of the Mid Sur is 375 grams according to Scotty's website, I was curious if anyone has an idea how heavy the neck is, as reducing the size will obviously cut down the weight.

I assume. from the putter fanatics on this site, that others have had their putters done by Slighter.

Any good or bad tales to tell?

Slighter does awesome custom work. He is very talented and has all of the tooling to do pretty much whatever you need done.
That MidSur Centershaft sounds pretty cool. Tom will know all of the weights, just give him a shout.
Looking forward to hearing what happens, on this one.

Have dropped an email to Slighter.

Will see what happens, and if I get it done will post pics.

Thanks

Slighter is the gold standard when it comes to customizing a putter in this manner.

Mark,

I had a Scotty brought back from the dead by Tom Slighter and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again as he is a pleasure to deal with....constant emails or phone calls and will do what ever he can to make you happy with your putter.

I think my putter is on his site with the before and after pictures...I'll see if I can find the link and post it up.

Plus you've got the added bonus with the USD vs GBP exchange rate at the moment.

cheers
Gary

p.s. Why are you hitting a ball into the Atlantic in your avatar? or do you place with a BIG slice....tongue.gif

Here's the link to my before and after pics. I've got to say that the putter was in much worse condition than the before pictures show.

You could just have Tom make you a custom. The price wouldn't be that much different plus you can have it look exactly like you want.

Just a thought.

The thought crossed my mind, but I want to do something with the putter I have.

In answer to my Avatar picture, we were waiting for a couple of American gentlemen who were ahead of us and our opponents told us that Daly had hit the Ailsa Craig lighthouse when he was over for the Open. We chickened out of aiming at the lighthouse as the Course Ranger was sniffing about. Nearly hit the rocks on the left though.

And I forgot to mention, your Scotty looks superb, Slighter must be a magician!! yahoo.gif
