Here I am again seeking some advice from the more experienced out there...

In search for a long putter I came accross a few that originally had a std length of 34" - but brand new being professionally extended to 50" with the lie angel adjusted accordingly.
Putters in question are the Odyssey Marxman and the Tour Edge V25.

How do you guys think about the performance and feel of a chest long putter converted from a standard 34"?

As long as the lie angle has been adjusted, the only thing to worry about is the weight. In my opinion, a "standard" head is too light for a long putter. But then there is always lead tape...... Good luck with your experiments man!

It can work, but your lie angle will be wrong, and if you extend the shaft rather than replacing it, would be too whippy, making lag putts very hard to judge.

The head of most long putters are heavier, but it may work fine for you. I had a long MacGregor putter, ('86 Nicklaus style), that my wife now uses. It has a very large, very light head and she putts lights out with it.

The biggest problem you'll have is lie angle. Trying to change it will probably also change your loft on the putter.

the tour edge v25 might not be a bad idea... especially if you load the weight to its maximum... then it will weigh quite a bit more... but as long as the lie angle is changed accordingly... i don't see a problem with extending it...

Loft and Lie can be easily adjusted. The post that spoke about being too whippy is right on. Shaft flex is extreemly important. It must play stiff and have appropriate weight.

I lengthened my Two Ball Blade. It was a succes story for about 1 season and a good way to try if I liked it, after this I went for a 'real' belly putter. This one felt more solid due to the bigger head and stiffer shaft (agree with nopictureboxes). Also I put loads of leadtape on the Two Ball after I lengthened it.
