If all the Pros, Semi-Pros, scratch and below 10-cappers are on this forum, where do the hackers like myself at 12-14 go to have conversations with peers of their sorts?

I know golf definately has room for embelishment, but damn.... everyone on here is a pro? clapping.gif

Yeah it's pretty amazing, this site attracts only elite talent. +3, 165 SS, 350+ carry, 275-yard 9-iron seem to be the norm around here.
packerfan1
If I blade my putter I can get 275 with a tailwind on summer hardpack.

20 capper here and there are plenty more of us posting here where that came from. Most people on a forum like this are already die hard golfers so I would expect their scores to be muchbetter than average. Not sure about some of the stats people quote but I'll bet most posters here are beter than average.
Gxgolfer
Where are you guys seeing this stuff? I see alot of mid to high cappers posting here. Also, don't see many topics about blades etc...
jcgrcya
It might be that the lower handicappers are more vocal because they know or think they know their stuff. Some of us mid/high handicappers may be put off or even intimidated by it. Who knows? I would agree though that some of the stats on driving distance, ss, etc seem a bit of a stretch from time to time.
mat562
There are plaenty of mid and high handicappers who regularly post on the site and have valid opinions on all matter of subjects.

It's to be expected that a site like this will attract 'enthusiastic' golfers who are perhaps better handicap-wise and more knowledgable equipment and technique-wise than the average.

Not everyone who claims a low handicap is lying either; there are plenty of low-handicappers out there and it's likely that a few will find their way on here surely? And my experience of many 'yardage-adders' is that they genuinely don't know they're doing it themselves....
mgags
My enthusiasm is high, but so is my handicap (21).

I don't post a lot, but I get more from reading anyways. Plus as a lefty, the lefty swap shop is like heaven.
buckyweet
Proud to carry a Yahoo handicap of 22.6 and play clubs I think I could hit but really can't
Babaganoosh
No blades for me, Raptures..... mid handi @ 12.5 but going lower.... I hope

I'm a 12-14 capper...represent! Been playing for four seasons now so hopefully I'll continue to get a little better every year.

Doesn't seem like a really huge step to get into single digits, basically don't hit the ball OB and don't three putt. Although, I'm having problems with both of those things at the moment...

I mostly just lurk, but I'll chime in if I think I can add something of value.
DefConOne
I'm a single digit handicapper, don't hit the ball very far, don't use premium golf balls, and use Big Bertha irons.

There is not much more OEMs can do with equipment (irons or drivers). It's all about the swing...and short game.

I'm a 12-15, and I'm here all the time! Now, if they put up a MidHQer forum, I'd be there all the time for comforts sake...BUT, the more I talk to these other guys the more I tend to learn. Anyways, I play cavity backs, although I stumbled upon some Hogan blades (older) for a pretty awesome price, but only to experiment with... I'm OCD on my golf game, and constantly trying to improve...just wish I could afford the lessons.

13.7 usga handicap here but getting lower all the time through lots of hard work. I don't hesitate to read and contribute. I am learning a lot on this forum. I appreciate that people seem to respect the diversity of opinion on here.

What your handicap is, and what your golf knowledge is could be related but not necessarily. There are those who've been low cappers and are now high cappers....these guys may know as much about golf as any . And then there are those who are at present high cappers who have studied the game...these guys could know their shizzle too.

Just to remember, we all have opinions but just because you're a low cappers doesn't mean you know more. Chances are none of us really know everything about golf but know more about ourselves and our tendencies, and thus equate this to golf knowledge. We can teach ourselves to produce but may lack that ability to help others in their game.

I'd rather guys talk about golf basics, learn them, and then be mostly self taught. The only time I'd suggest seeing your guru is when you feel the wheels coming lose or maybe starting to wobble....but hopefully before the wheels are completely falling off.

Golf basics are something that everyone in here can talk about and relate to....JMO drag.gif

I'm at a 10.2 now and aprreciate feedback from higher cap players as well as like being able to share what's worked for me. As was mentioned above, most guys that take the time to post on golf forums are pretty intense about the game. Cripes, my golf game is more important than my career to me. I choose to make less money so I can have more time to play.
NikeDD59
I'm a 14 handicapper but my index says I'm a 10.2 because of the difficult courses I play.

Don't forget a bag of clubs straight off the "Tour Van".

Yo

Stay right here and don't be bothered by the Ding-Dongs. Half of these guys can't do 7/5ths (hows that for math) of what they say. Nor do they hit it that far. When the tour averages below 300 yards a drive, and nearly every ding-dong on this site "does" there is something wrong with how they are reading the yardage markers. Maybe they are measuring in meters? Oh, the best part is this, if you gave any of these guys a blind-fold test of forged vs cast, no one could tell.

16.5 and dropping right here, so I'm definently not a pro, if only I had some kind of short game lol. But anyways there are actually quite a few mid to high handicappers around here.

raidernut1234
well i was a 12 handicap, until I joined GOLFWRX a year ago!! Now I have my tour issued driver, Joe Kowk'd irons and magic putter and ...
POOF!!! I dropped to a 4.2... NOT!!! (sarc.)
It took me about 3 years to rebuild a more consistent swing, and get my clubs fitted to me to work my way to a 4.
by the way,
I love this site, and I love golf. I post so much because I love to help other people, especially if its their golf game.
I only share if I have gone thru the same experience and have a solution I figured out or a Pro showed me in a lesson.
Equipment wise, I try to share my experiences related to my swing and playing characteristics so others can learn from it.

I think more mids should post (especially related to golf equipment) to give each other better feedback.
JAT. maybe we should all put our indexes in our sigs?? (on your honor, your honor)

I'm a 26 capper and I go to the range as often as possible to practice and get better.

My handicap is 20 and it continues to improve, even if I didn’t play as much as I wanted to this year smile.gif You can see in my signature what I'm using and it's my 4th year playing this marvelous sport biggrin.gif

I'm only 5'6", but I think I have a great SS for my height biggrin.gif and I’m reaching 260 – 280 yards with my new driver biggrin.gif Good technique – for SS - I suppose wink.gif

What is disadvantage me is my lack of experience, especially with uneven lies. But I feel it’s coming, well I hope so biggrin.gif
ColinMB
I'm a mid-high handicapper and post here regularly.

I do agree Sandtrap.com is a pretty honest forum. I love GolfWRX though, even though I have to agree it seems whenever a generic 'driver' post comes up, no one hits less than 290 yards.

Just keep perspective and realize that 'we' are out there, and trying to post honestly about our experiences. wink.gif

Hi there, I just started and really have not played very much so I guess I would have a very high handicap. I have posted a few questions and feel crazy offering any real advice as I need to learn A LOT more before I think I could that. I do really like this forum, lot's of helpful people.

Don't have a Hcap as yet, but I am sure it is right around the par for a tough 9 hole course smile.gif

In my first season and a LOT of improvement needed. Seems my field of expertiese is the removing of skymarks from woods.

My handicap is 22.9 and I try and post a bit. I know I am horrible at golf, I know why, and I choose not to practice (don't have the time, would rather play, but even then it's once every two weeks). But I love equipment, even though I can't afford near what I would like too. To answer the original question, I stay more in the Tour News, Clubmaker, and Flatstick section. I stay out of the swing theory as I have no desire to mess with that right now. I am quite comfortable with my lack of ability as it has little effect on how much fun I have when I play.
