The purecontact is useful at the driving range, but it really shows you how bad most driving range balls are. Golfsmith balls fly around 10 yards shorter(carry) than a premium ball. So you have to take this into account when you use it. It really helps if your range uses used real golf balls rather than range balls. I have seen up to 20 yards of carry distance difference between a good ball and a range ball with similar contact.

I have been using this unit for several years and have been quite pleased with the results. I find that it is most accurate with nice, lofty shots up to about 200 yards. On lower, penetrating shots, where it is suppose to calculate carry + roll, I find it less accurate. When I hit shots that I know are consistent (i.e. 8/9 irons) the digital readout shows that I did hits each shot within one of two yards of each other. A suggestion ... since this is a unit that is not used all the time, you might share the cost with several other golfing buddies to help defer the $299 (???) price.

i've owned two units and they never worked reliably. it misses too many shots so i sold them.

I love mine its really helped me and my students. Its the best tool I have found for gapping iron and its a lot smaller and faster to set up then the launch monitor.
