We've got a corporate event in 6 weeks and I'm looking for ideas for a great handout for attendees.

We're not interested in doing a shirt or anything else that requires sizing, and last year we did a logo'd ball hat.

Say the ceiling is $45 or so... anyone have any good, unique or absolutely must-have ideas?

Thanks.

In six weeks a golf umbrella might come in handy.

A nice leather bag tag and ball mark tool combo.

have a look at www.golfprogroup.com

Gripmaster has nice products, like the ClubWRX bag tags they did for us. Also, Trion:Z has done many corporate stuff and great advertising there as well.

Why not a gift certificate to the pro shop? Maybe you can get some deal with them, like a $50 cert for $40.

I personally don't like all the little gadget crap that you typically get. I'm probably not going to get the golf ball I play, I already have a towel, I don't want a hat with your company logo on it.

Probably the best thing I ever got was a mini-marker for marking golf balls!

how about a shoe tote or a leather scorecard holder?

We did a shoe bag a couple years ago, and did an ogio luggage piece also.

It's tough to come up with something in short order, and so much of the gadgety stuff just gets relegated to the bottom of the bag (which we don't want). We discussed a scorecard holder but with 50% of the group not being super-keen golfers that may be a throwaway as well!

I hadn't thought about Trion-Z though, that's an interesting idea.

Keep 'em comin!

What about some logo balls?

My fault-- should've mentioned we give everyone a sleeve of logo'd balls right off the bat.

Is this internal or external (clients etc.)?

Probably too late, but I would get the "Progolf" line markers w/attached Sharpie for marking lines on balls with your corporate logo on it.
then get company towels, and a sleeve of logo balls from the course (if its a nice course).

I used to do photography for tournaments when I was in high school. I would take a golf cart, drive the course and get photos of all of the groups out playing in the event (one photo for the group and one for each individual). This was long before digital so I would hustle over to a photolab and get everything developed and printed while I waited. Then for each person I would put the individual photo along with the group photo in a flip open commemorative photo card for the tournament. Today, you could literally just print out the photos on site. In my opinion a nice picture of yourself and the group from the day is a great souvenir from any tournament.

Photo tip: use a flash to get rid of shadowy faces due to baseball caps on sunny days.

how about sunglasses...i see em at golfsmith for 30 bucks and they look pretty good..i am always losing mine so that would be something everyone could use golfer or not

If you contact the golf course, they might be able to set up a mobile proshop. We had Titleist do ours for the member guest, and I know that TM and Cally are getting into it as well. They come out, set up a pseudo pro shop with some stuff and you basically give every one a 45 or 50 dollar gift certificate that they can use towards something that the rep has brought along. Some people use it to by balls, others will buy an umbrella, and some even used it towards equipment. The reps are usually pretty good on the pricing as well, seeing as they will be moving a good amount of product.

Not sure if there is enough money per person to make that appealing to you, (we had 100 per person, so the options were more varied). You could always go the route of logoing something with your compnay logo, I.e. some sort of bag or back pack or something of that nature. Headcovers are cool (assuming your logo can work there) with the logo and maybe the event year. Ex. "DG classic 2007".

Shoe totes
Valuables pouch
duffle bag

It also depends on your clientèle. If these are guys that you are trying to impress or whatnot, you might want to step it up and make sure that the stuff is super nice, and high quality. If this is just an event and there is no big deal whether someone gets balls, tees, or a travel bag, then you can go with stuff of less quality and more of it. Figure out who you are trying to get stuff for first, and then narrow it from there. Also you don't have to stick with golf related items either, you can go outside the box there. Like TexasAg said, a nice framed picture and a small something would be great too. All depends on what you are trying to achieve.

I may be wrong here but I think the idea is to keep the logo out in the public so it can be seen.

Simply stated nothing does this better than a visor , or cap or a shirt. If I was going to spend $ 45 I might come up with a really nice T shirt and a nice cap. T shirt being something that they would not wear only on the golf course.

Bottom line I think thats where your going to get the most visibility for your dollars.

I used to sale silk screened T shirts in my golf shop witht he club logo they sold like hot cakes.

Original is cool but you want your product or name out there stick with the basics.

Good Luck

Depends on if your group wears suits on a regular basis or not but you could do cuff links or maybe tie tacks if you want your logo to show up again during business.
kamtile
If you have a Golfsmith close ,you could have them make up some wedges, for that price ,you could probably get Snake Eyes forged .I would think that would impress about anyone.

I'm of the opinion that you can never have too many umbrellas, and it gives a nice big place for a logo.
j0npeterson
i suggest 10,000 tees, each.

14.5 volt cordless drills. I got one at an event this summer and its been used more than any "golf junk" I've ever received.
drewster
The drills would be a great idea if people weren't flying from all over to get to the event. Hard to travel with.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll post an update when we decide!

what about a suit bag with your logo. people flying about playing golf going through various airports with loads of people? ties? mousemats and cups? and some tees with your clubs website address on them so when they are playing and the tees get left about the course, other people pick them up and see the website address?

Not sure where you are (warm/cold), but a good coffee travel "tumbler" is invaluable (and too damn expensive retail!)

What about a good quality Nissan travel tumbler/mug? If there is money left, throw in a Starbucks gift card. People get attached to good travel mugs, so it will sit on office desks, in cars, go to ballgames, other golf events, cafes, etc. In other words, a variety of places for your logo to be seen.

This is my favorite (runs about $25 w/o logo):

Flip top that is easy to flip with one hand. Fits in car cup holders. Top is deep to keep beverage in mug and not on lap. And most importantly, it keeps stuff hot for frickin' hours.

Travel Tumbler JMH400P
  • TherMax® double wall vacuum insulation locks in temperature to preserve flavor and freshness.
  • Unbreakable 18/8 stainless steel interior and exterior withstand the demands of everyday use.
  • Spill-resistant flip-top drink lid makes it easy to enjoy your beverage anywhere.
  • Slim body with silicone rubber grip is comfortable to hold and fits most automobile drink holders.
  • Tumbler stays cool to the touch with hot liquids and is condensation-free with cold.
Here's one with a logo:

Subsonic
I play a ton of golf for work. I would forgo a golf related gift. I think the Mug is a great idea. One of the best gifts I received was a nice Fisher Pen engraved with my name and that of the sponsor. I use it all the time and it reminds me of that day and the thoughtfulness of the sponsor.

I would laugh so hard if I showed up for a golf tournament and someone handed me a drill!
Cute Girl at Sign In Table: "Thank you for coming to the 3rd Annual "Goat Track Invitational" Mr. Foxtrot. Your tee time is in 35 minutes, you are all signed in, and can pick up your complementary power drill at that table right over there. Just show them your nametag."

C_F: "Great, thank yo... I'm sorry, did you say power drill?"

CG@SIT: "Yes, right over there."

C_F: "Are the golf cars that bad?"

CG@SIT: "No, they work fine."

C_F: "Okay, thanks. BWAHAHAHAHAHA."

I would think it was tres cool and useful, but I'm not sure I could stop laughing long enough to hit my ball.
