Going to a wedding in early December at the Kiawah Island Club, and can play the River Course there. Anyone play there? Just would like to know what to expect. Also, how's the weather going to be at that time of year?
While I'm there, I'll certainly try to get over to the Ocean Course at the resort. Hopefully I can squeeze it in.

Expect 25mph winds, mid to low 50's, and the scenary is beautiful. Sometimes the wind there is pretty tough in December. I live 20 mins from Kiawah. Ocean, River, Osprey, and Turtle Point are all great courses on Kiawah Island.

I have a place at Kiawah, but not there often enough for me.
If I spend a week there in Dec or Jan, there are always a couple of days I can play in shirtsleeves (60-70ish), but the rest require a sweater +/- windshirt (50's with breezes up to 20+knots). Very rare to be too cold for golf, but rain can be miserable.
The River Course is my favorite on the island, and offers some beautiful vistas over the Kiawah River over the closing holes. The rest wind through the maritime forest and are well designed, scenic, and plenty challenging. Blues play about 6600 yds and are enough golf for me. Tips go to 7000+, and beyond my 18 hcp.
If possible, try to play the other club course (Cassique). Another great layout, but different as night/day from the River Course.
The restaurant at Cassique is world Class. Try to get a meal there.
Enjoy!

Ok, just learned I most probably won't be able to play either of the private courses. Aside from the Ocean Course, which at the resort would you most recommend?
