Hey everyone I am getting ready to head to Central Oregon for a golf trip and it gets pretty hot out there (desert type conditions). I notice a big differance when I wear a cotton shirt vs. a wicking (sp) type shirt ie. DRI-fit, Clima cool etc. what shirts do you wear and a second question is where can you pick them up a little cheaper. call me cheap but I hate spending more than $50 bucks on a shirt. also what about socks and shorts. I ususally go with cargo type shorts but on real hot days those even require a little extra gold bond if you know what I mean. I have a pair of Nike running socks (low cut) that are made of the wicking material and I notice those help but they are spendy. any advice is more than welcome.

Ross, Marshalls, or TJ Maxx. All have Nike, Adidas, Ashworth, and even Callaway performance polos. It's hit or miss, though, you have to go often to find good stuff.

I go to Kohl's. They have golf shirts by Grand Slam I think. They are wicking material, and $17 each. Very comfortable and good looking. Just have to catch them when they are on a good sale.

You can usually pick up some cheaper Walter Hagen stuff up at Dick's Sporting Goods. You don't need the big brand names like Under Armour. You WILL notice a HUGE difference playing in the wicking material to the cotton stuff. It is well worth the investment.

I would go with the Under Armour line of shirts. I usually wear Nike Dri-Fit, but I have been on a Under Armour kick lately. They are very nice and work as advertised. Also it wouldn't be a bad idea to carry a bag of rosin with you. I started too as of late, and it really helps me keep my hands dry.

This may seem strange, but when it's above 90 degrees, I wear a short sleeved compression shirt that wicks moisture under my golf shirt, also moisture wicking. Adidas or Under Armour. Here's the logic. It keeps me cooler because it gets the sweat off me right away (compression) and no matter how hot it gets, my shirt doesn't stick to me when swinging because there is a skin tight layer.

The non-stick factor is the best ever. Try it, you'll like it. PS that should also let you wear the shirts you have as well, the outer shirt can be anything. Trust me...

Boscov's carries the PGA Tour brand and they are very reasonably prices. My wife got me a bunch of light weight polos and mock necks for less than $20 a piece.

I go for the undershirt method too when somewhere hot.

I'm ex-military, and I remember being told as a young officer that it was the best way of keeping cool by a grizzled old Royal Marine NCO.

Try Sam's Club, BJ's wholesale they had nike dry-fit. Also I just picked up a Bubba Golf dry performance shirt from Steve and Barry's yesterday. They are only $15 and work great. I didn't have any lite colored dry shirts and I had an outing to play in. It is deadly hot here right now with 97 degree heat and over 90% humidity. The shirt worked great.

Try Ebay to find cheaper stuff. The better performance shirts are well worth it. When its going to be over 85 or 90 I wear Adidas Climacool head to toe. Hat, shirt, shorts, socks and 360 II's. Plus I wear a compression cut off and compression shorts. Also carry gold bond and rosin.

Never thought to wear an undershirt, I figured it would make me even hotter. But I do have some UA compression gear, I think I'll wear it on Tuesday under my TW shirt, and see how it works.
