For all you Oakley lovers out there, besides being overpriced (imo) what is the real benefit to these? I mean, over say, some Maui Jims or Revos....are they any better quality than anything else?
I have again narrowed my search down to 2 pairs of glasses for everyday use as well as on the golf course.
The Oakley Square Wire 3.0 in brown chrome with the VR28 iridium lens
...the image online looks dreadful. I went to Bass Pro today and saw these, tried them on (the polarized versions) and they looked amazing thru the lens. It was like looking at life in HD or something. Looking thru the lens it appears more of a rose color. When I went home to look them up on the computer the website calls them brown chrome and gives an awful depiction...that looks nothing like them in person. Oh well.
The polarized are $210!:rant that’s insane. The non polarized is $150 and that is the price point for several Maui Jim, Costa's, Revos and they are polarized.
So for you Oakley lovers, why should I bite? Do they offer something special? And what does the VR28 lens claim to do? I did love the look on and thru the lens, but the price point, eek. And Oak's don’t come with a hard case? How the hell can you charge $210 ($60 more then a ton of the competition) and not "give up" a free hard case that everyone else does?
The other ones I liked were the Maui Jim Moku's; they fit my face nicely but the lens color wasn’t as appealing to look thru, but at $179, not sure the extra $30 is a big deal either way.
I can’t find good pics of either on the net as both brand's web has computerized images of the glasses and both look bad.
