Dear fellow Golfers.
It has been a long time since there was an European winner of the British Open (A major for that sake....)
Is this the time?
Who will it be?
Sergio? Not. Putting is rubbish!
Monthy? Not likely. Seems to be out of form even though a recent win.
Casey? Harrington?
Maybe a french guy, or a swedish?

What do you guys think?

Henrik Stenson
Got a Major winning caddy and got the game face to win!
golfdude
Well I was hoping for Stenson at the US open... and he missed the cut didn't he?
He also seems to be a bit out of form.

If a pretty swing would win it - It must be Luke Donald?

I have money on Luke Donald winning this week. Fingers crossed!

Sergio is striking the ball great. If he can hole some putts, he'll win. Despite the way he's been putting, he's still regularly in contention. People may start to be underestimating him.

Stenson still needs a bit of work and a confidence boost. He really gets down sometimes and I think he's going through one of those spells at the moment.

Monty is playing well and he's in the same boat as Sergio. If he can get the putter to work, this may be his year. I don't mind losing money if Monty can finally win a major!

You never know which Harrington is going to turn up but he's one hell of a scrambler so if the wind stays bad all week, he'll manage to get round in decent scores.

I don't think the Open Championship suits Paul Casey's or Justin Rose's games but we'll see.

As always, it could be anyone as it has been in the past (Lawrie, Hamilton, Curtis). It's Tigers to lose!

I have to agree it's Tigers to loose But I Would like to see a European wit it
How about Poulter?

Not good enough in my opinion but he has so much confidence, he believes he's the best player in the world.

Having said that, I would've said that Lawrie, Hamilton and Curtis weren't good enough either so it shows what I know.

My vote goes to Donald and Rosie too.

It would be nice to get the monkey off the back of all the euros, so it would be nice if one of them can up their game a win it.

Donald needs to get a caddy who can read greens he has a fine stroke but misses far too many putts offline.

Rose has the game but perhaps lacks a little steel when the chips are down ....not much but enough to not win.

Henson good bet long hitter good putter . Casey same but can be prone to genius or foolhardiness depending on outcome of shot.

Harrington good enough but he does not seem to believe it.

Monty for some inexplicable reason rarely plays well in the Open but did at Hoylake .

cant see a european winner except out of these 6 but then again never thought Ben Curtis , Paul Lawrie or todd hamilton would win it.

Dear Golfers,

I hope it would be a French as Gregeory Havret who just won the SCottish open after a playoff with Lefty. With chance he won't do the same last hole as Van de Velde.

Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Yeah you never know. DC hasn't been on top of his game but he's been speaking positively in the press.

Miguel is a regular contender on the European Tour so the weather shouldn't affect him too much. Don't know how he'll cope out of the thick rough but when he's playing well, he seems to hole putts from everywhere.

Watch out for Thomas Bjorn.

Watch out for Thomas Bjorn.

The last impact TB made on the golf arena was when he was not a captains pick for last years Ryder Cup.... haha.gif
No - I would belive Poulter is a more potential outsider...
dolleris
Watch out for Thomas Björn and Monty...

I walked round with Harrington at the Irish PGA last saturday at the European club (very tough links course). He won but frankly some of the club/shot selections he made were awful. It seems to me that the relationship with his caddie is too cosy (his caddie is his wife's brother in law). For that reason i wouldnt tip him to win on a course like carnoustie where strategy and course management are vital.

Tiger will probably win but the odds are very short so i intend to have a bet on a couple of outsiders. if the weather is really nasty Bjorn could be in with a chance he has always been a streaky player and plays bad weather well, he won the Irish open last year in atrocious conditions. another one to consider would be Michael Campbell he hasnt played well lately but he hadnt before he won the us open, he is also a good bad weather player and has won on links courses before.

My pick for a dark horse euro would be Nick Dougherty. I followed him and Paul Casey at the BMW PGA at Wentworth and he is a serious talent. Watching him play I couldn't understand why he hasn't won more.

He's the epitomy of a streaky player. Just as capable of shooting a 65 as he is an 80.

Can't seem to put 4 rounds together but he's a great ball striker and sneaky long.

He was three shots up at the turn in the final found early this year and lost I dont think he could do it!

What about Lee Westwood?
