Well, yet another nice club i played at today and voila, of course all their merchandise had the club logo on it. I don't know what it is. it feels weird to wear and see everyone with merchandise that has some club logo on it that they played last whenever it was. I suspect if it was my own club it would be different, but even then it seems like i am a lot happier with a shirt from golfstore x instead of the logo'ed stuff from all the clubs.

Am i the only one? I presently have 1 logo shirt from some private chicago club my brother gave me. other than that i am logo free for the 14? or so golf shirts i have.

your thoughts? peter.

I'm with you on this one..I have one that I won last year at a scramble - really nice shirt. It's from some club I've never even heard of...still has tags on it.

2nd (or is it 3rd now). I feel weird wearing a club polo when playing at a different course.

Add me to the the list of dislike also.

only will wear shirts of clubs that I played and liked....wouldn't wear the shirt if it was given to me and never played there or I thought it was a pasture...............I do not buy shirts so other's know where I play.............rather to remeber the time there..............only if it was good

I'm another who will purchase and wear a shirt with a club logo if it's somewhere I played and enjoyed. I don't wear shirts with club logos that I've never played or courses where I did play and didn't care for. I don't have a lot of them but every now and then when I do wear a shirt with a logo someone will ask me about the course and I can tell them a bit about the course, how I played that day and remember the round fondly again. A couple of my favorites are from Valhalla, which I used to get to play several times a year when I lived up there and from Memorial Park in Houston, one of my all-time favorite public courses.....

I think you "no logo" guys are among the minority here. I bet 90%+ true golfers like having shirts with course logos on them from their favorite courses they have played. If I play a course and really enjoy it, or it is a historical or exclusive track - I ALWAYS get a shirt with their logo on it. It's a great conversation starter at the club, meetings, an parties.....

14 shirts??? I have 14 white golf shirts! smile.gif If I went into my closet right now, I bet I could count 90-100 golf shirts.......

I when on a 2 week golf trip with 2 buddies this past spring and came back with 11 shirts from all the courses we played, plus 5 from Augusta National!

Don't mind wearing club logos on shirts or hats, if I like the course. However, I've yet to find a shirt that's worth the inflated price.
Rabidpenguin45
AT this course around me, they had nike sphere react polos(as soon as they came out ) with their logos for like 15-20 bucks... instead of the 65 so logo or not, i jumped on the deal.
imsocrabby
course logo's on hats only.

I agree, i belong to a very private club and have no issues wearing the shirts sold in the pro shop. I do have issue wearing a shirt of a club that i've not been at nor played. How many people wear Masters or US Open shirts and they have never been or played the course.

I just bought one from my home course, its a really nice shirt I got a discount on because I work there anyway. I wear it whenever, because to me its important to represent where you're from.

In the next two weeks, the opportunity is presenting itself (about an 80%-20% chance in favor) for me to play one of the finest private major venues in championship golf. I don't wanna get my hopes up or jinx myself here, but if I do get a chance to play, I will most definately walk out of the pro shop with more than one logoed shirt, and as many nick nacks I can get my hands, and money, on.

So if its your home course, or a famous track that you've played, I have no problem with course logoed shirts. However, I also would never wear a shirt of a course that I've never played.

yeah i guess hats i don't mind (even at their inflated price i have 1 from congressional where i played and someone bought it for me) but shirts, i just can't wear them, it seems weird. i guess hats you don't wear to the office, but golf shirts (logo'd or not) you do. 1 office i was at we called it "club wear" and would make fun of whoever was wearing it!

I didn't mind paying $80 for a shirt from Pine Valley.

I like to wear shirts with club logos, it generates conversation. The whole have you played there and so on conversation is what I enjoy about golf. Talking golf, golf travel, favorite holes often starts with someone seeing the logo on the shirt. In fact it happened in my pro shop just yesterday.

Not sure what the huge issue is with the Course Logo shirts. I buy one everywhere out of my area that I play, if they have any good looking ones that is. I wear them to work mostly, but if it is a nice out of state course, I will where it at my home course. If someone I know goes to a Major Championship, or even just to the course, I would definitley not have a problem taking a new shirt in. You do not need to play the course to where the shirt in that case, most people are not going to have the chance to play any of those courses. Must be nice for you guys that are able to do that though!

On the hat note, I would love to see some pictures of these hats w/ logos that most seem to be ok with, any and all of them I have seen in my life were AWFUL!
trek1500
Generally I don’t buy a shirt or hat or whatever from every course that I play…if I did my closet would be overflowing…

But I really don’t have any issue with wearing a shirt with someone’s logo on it…if anything it’s a good topic of conversation…”Oh…you played so & so course? Wow..I did too..what did you think of….”

Some of the shirts you find in pro shops (especially when they are discounted…) are rather nice! That’s usually when I’ll spring for one…

So..no..it’s no big issue for me…
drstroud
I don't mind wearing shirts with club logos on them. Does not bother me one bit even for clubs I've never played before. All of you that don't like them, can send them my way. yes.gif

I might buy a shirt from a TPC course, and if I do I wear it out to dinner but not to another course.
innocentallegory
i have a few logoed shrts from some clubs but not many,

i dont really like when the logo is on the chest, i like the logo on the sleeve.

and some of these resort logos are hideous, but the older clubs have some simple, perfect logos. like oakmont, etc

I think I'm down to aboout 100 shirts now and most of the have a logo.

The Antigua factory outlet is nearby so I often wear a shirt with a logo from a course I have not played. You can't be choosy when you are getting $80 shirts for $15. Here in AZ white shirts last about 1 season. We consider them disposable.

There is a fellow at our club that I play with quite often who always gets a shirt when we play away. He calls them his "been there" shirt.

Years ago I played with a friend who almost missed our tee time. I asked him why and he said that he had put on the wrong shirt. Wrong shirt I asked. The shirt he was wearing was from a different course and he said he looked at the logo and drove there. It seems he forgot where we were playing. Thankfully it was close by.

Logo shirts are great conversation starters. Enjoy them even if you have never played there.

BTW even though we have a TPC close by I would never buy one of their shirts. The logo is so generic that there is nothing special at all.

a really simple idea would be to not buy the shirt at the club.

WHAT???

So, when I played Los Angeles CC a few years back, I should have bought my LACC shirt at the Target down the street versus the pro shop, right?
canvasback13

I like logoed shirts from my own club a lot.

I hate shirts with company logos, I get them free all the time, but won't wear them
mat562
Not so much golf club logos, but I hate people who wear an 'Oxford University' or Stanford T-shirt when they quite clearly didn't go there.

Similarly, people who wear a special forces blazer badge or Regimental tie when the nearest they got to the regiment was once speaking to a bona fide member...

sheppy335
I dont have any golf shirts with Course logo's, the price ist worth it so i get ball markers from them instead. I do own a on of golf shirts, every shirt i own is a golf shirt. Which is about 40 of them and growing.
eaglecabport
I like shirts from course I liked and played. If I did nto play there, would not wear it (except my Masters shirt that a friend got me). I have shirts from the 2000 US Open at Pebble (was there for 3 rounds), 2005 PGA at Baltusrol (was there for one round). As for as course shirts, I have or have had many but my current favorites aer (and yes, only because I played there and either loved the course or the history behind it or both): Pebble, Spyglass, Poppy Hills, Spanish Bay, Bay Hill, Torrey Pines, Grand Cypress, Doral, Las Colinas, TPC Scottsdale, La Costa, Capilano, San Juan Oaks.

So yes, I like club logos if I have been there and my ONLY exception is the Masters. Sorry but I just love that tourney more than any other and had to accept the shirt and wear it with pride.
CtrlZ
I will generally only wear logoed shirts from my own club. Big exception is shirts I have bought at the Masters.
bseal
I'm the type of person, that if i get to play a Riviera, like I did a couple of weeks ago, I have to get a shirt, I got a Fairway and Greene shirt there and while I was hitting balls at Spyglass someone started talking to me about it and I really got to know this person for his stay at our Resort. It was pretty cool, I like getting course logoed shirts from cool courses I've played or worked at, with that said I don't often get shirts or anything from muni tracks or courses with no prestige. Also, I would REFUSE to wear a logoed shirt if I never played the course, with a few exceptions like a Masters shirts or something of that nature.

the title of the thread, i thought, was "i hate shirts with club logos on them". so, if people dont like shirts with club logos on them, DONT BUY THEM. go somewhere else and get them.

sboardz006
the only ones i would think of buying would be as a souvenir from a famous course like Augusta National or Pebble Beach.
MCDavis
I will wear (and like to wear) logo'ed shirts including golf course logos, equipment logos, and company (non-golf) logos. I wear them to work, out to dinner, and to play golf. Basically, if it's a good looking golf shirt I'll wear it.

You guys with NWT golf shirts that were given to you, I'd pay the shipping charges for your XL's if they're good looking shirts.

Two things:

First, I dont wear any College-logo shirt that I have not been to the campus. Everytime I go on a business trip, I find a nearby college and get a shirt. Hard to find UL-Lafayette, UAB, and Pepperdine tshirts in Cleveland.

Second, if any of you that love course logos live around an Ashworth outlet, you will be in heaven. They usually have a rack in the back with a ton of different course logos on Callaway and Ashworth shirts for $15 or less.
