Never been there, we're staying at Mauna Lani so we'll probably play there, please offer other golf and non golf activities while in Kona, HI. Thanks in advance.

I have a condo in Kona proper, and I really like the Kona Country Club's ocean course. Personally, I am not a fan of the mountain course. I am also a huge fan of the Waikoloa King's course. That course is beautiful, and, while challenging, still very fun to play. The beach course there is much easier, but beautiful as well.
At Mauna Lani, make sure to have your camera out for the 15th on the South course. That par 3 (as well as hole #7) is spectacular. I have not played the North course there, but heard it is nice as well.
Enjoy and Mahalo

Don't miss the Mauna Kea course. Hapuna is also fun if you enjoy target golf.
Non-golf: many shops and funky restaurants in Kona. Take a ride up to the volcanos. That's pretty interesting.

If you want a break from resort prices, try Makalei, it's up at 1500 feet (up to 2500 ft at the top), so it's much cooler. Great layout and lots of wildlife. I also like the Ocean Course much better than the Mountain Course at KCC. Not too many flat lies on the Mountain Course. Big Island Country Club is nice too, it's a little far from Kona, but has some really neat holes (#17 is an island green). Conditions at BICC vary greatly so it'd be nice to be able to get a scouting report before you head up there. Aloha!

There are many world famous charter boats operating out of Kona. There is a chance to catch a 1000lb+ marlin, tuna, wahoo, etc, etc. The water is calm and you are fishing about 2 miles from the dock.
