Great pics! It appears that Titleist is venturing "outside the box" in regards to their standard/traditional style approach. Not to mention, they're also getting products out more rapidly.
Now the big question, is the 905 series short lived? Again, thanks for the pics! |

QUOTE(furrankee @ Oct 25 2006, 12:35 PM) I am very curious about the sound it makes! "Tink"? "Thwap"? "BOOOOM"? I think it makes a "whoosh" kind of sound...as in "whoosh", down goes the price of a mint 905R on Ebay in the next three months. I absolutely love what TM has done to Nike/Callaway/Titleist and the others as far as product life cycle is concerned. I saw a 425 TP, almost new, on Ebay at $280 this afternoon. I'll have one by March of next year! |

Gross!!!! The shape of the D1 is aweful, but more than anything I can't stand the look of the hosel, not only is it shiny, but now it is shiny AND flares out at the bottome so it is even more visable.
Christ, what happened to the 975D! This is from a Titleist driver loyalist for 9 straight years!!!!! |

WOW! Black and White does no justice... there is something about the driver - I mean I love my FT-3 but I still think the J-VS was my all time best driver. Way to go Titleist on not sitting and waiting too long. Now just make sure that the head is Low spin or I will be out of luck!
Great Scoop - GOLFWRX is quickly becoming the Will McDounogh for Golf Club information... the scoop that no one else can get! |

It's not a SQ for sure, but "not your father's Titleist" either. Don't know what to think, really. Thanks for the awesome pix though. I'd like to see the D2 more. |

Sign me up for both / either I don't care as long as it is lower spin than the R....lots of companies make nice products, but when Titleist / Cameron / Vokey start showing prototypes, I GET EXCITED!!!

No doubt a lower spinning R is what I hope Titleist produces.... for some reason this has REALLY grown on me all of a sudden. I'll demo both models next year I think. Suddenly the new exotics has competition.

QUOTE(iaindan @ Oct 25 2006, 03:10 PM) wonder what the d3 and d4 drivers will look like No D3 and D4. They axed those and will focus only on the D1 (High MOI) and D2 (Traditional versions). They did not want to confuse the user with to many choices, plus you narrow your R & D costs and focus, ultimately leading to 2 great drivers, rather than 4 good ones. QUOTE(Jer-Jer @ Oct 25 2006, 03:18 PM) Any pics of the D2? I was not allowed to take close ups of the D2, since it (the new version, not the one currently up on USGA.org) is not yet USGA approved. If you look closely though at some of the pics, you will see them. They look kinda like a TM R5 in both color and shape (just slightly more pear shaped), and 460cc, not (450 like the R5). |

i'm not a golf club engineer or aerodynamic dude or a specialist in moi, but it strikes me that maybe a driver that is shaped like a U shaped putter might work for stability... i am thinking that some sort of rounded version of a U shaped putter.... the odyssey one..??? yeah, would look wild, but maybe easier to line up and removal of that mass in area X would put it in the face more and give a more stable drive... peter
