Looking for some perspective & help! I have a set of standard length Callaway X-Tours with Project X 6.0 shafts. I usually play with clubs that are +0.5", and am considering extending these shafts by using standard steel butt extensions. However, I am concerned about how the extension will impact the shaft's performance.
Does anyone know if a 1/2" steel butt extension in Project X 6.0 shafts will dramatically impact performance, or is it no big deal? Thanks! |

I can't say without doubt .05" of standard steel won't affect a PX; PX are tapered from butt to tip, not like DG standards. My other thought is PX's are lighter then DG standard steels shafts. In the butt of DG S300 or X100 shaft no biggy. In a PX, not so sure. Maybe pick your least used club and do it first for test purposes. Otherwise talk to someone in person that really knows.
Standard PX = 120 Standard PX flighted = 125 DGS300's and X100's = 130 This post has been edited by Pepperturbo: Nov 3 2009, 03:32 PM |

Thanks for the replies! I'm going to give it a shot in a couple clubs to see how it goes. This is an interesting one for sure, as the answer definitely varies on who you talk to.
Thanks & here's hoping!!! |

Put extensions in irons & hit the range yesterday. Didn't notice an difference in feel or consistency. I'm a 9hdcp though, so maybe someone way better than me would notice, but so far so good :-)
Thanks again! |
