43* PW is just silly.....my 9-iron is 44*.

I agree, Cobra irons have long had strong lofts, but their recent offerings are over the top (just like my bad swings black eye.gif ). I can understand spacing the lofts a little wider so you can get a hybrid or an extra wedge in the bag, but re-badging a 3 iron a four iron and a 9 iron a wedge makes little sense to me other than as a marketing ploy to stroke the customer's ego.

^

I would need 2 gap wedges then!

I got to hit the s2 forged at Titleist's TPI facility in Oceanside a few weeks ago. The feel is great. Very forgiving. Think of them as inbetween AP2's and AP1's. I'm currently playing Pro CB's with DGSL s300 and will be switching. The sole on the S2 forged irons was great through the turf also.

For the people worried about the lofts: I didn't pick up massive distances with these clubs over my pro cb's. I did picked up a little distance due to getting better launch and spin conditions. I was very high launch and too little spin with my cb's. I got much better launch conditions with the S2forged. The stronger lofts brought my launch down, and the lower cg increased the spin nad got extra forgiveness. The biggest thing was the consistency. Even when I miss hit one with the s2 I didn't lose as much distance or accuracy as with my CB's. I'm plannning on staying with the DGSL's vs the Tour Nippon. The tour nippon felt really good. I decided to stay with the DGSL as I do tend to get quick some times.

I was a little concerned about the 43*PW because I carry 52* and 58* wedge. I was worried about a gap between the pw and 52, and don't have room to carry another wedge. Through my wedge ftting session I didn't see any noticable change in my pw distance with the S2 and was able to keep my 52* and 58* without a gap between the pw and gw.

really? you/most of us could go from a 43 degree pitching wedge...to a 52 (which is my next gap wedge)...with no issues?
9 degrees of difference which is at minimum a 2 club difference, in some cases with set make ups of 3 degrees between lofts...it would be a three club difference from PW to GW of 52.
You say it worked for you...not sure how..but there is no way i could play something with almost ten degrees of difference between 2 clubs.
pics look great, i love cobra, i would like to get something with a bit more forgiveness than my ss forged that i absolutely love...they are better in many regards than my back up cally x22tours...but the lofts are beyond bizarre.???
in the std s2?i have zero issues...all game improvement these days are loft jacked...but the s2 forged is supposedly a better player iron. This is whacked?

Don't read into the lofts too much. For example, lets take a standard 48* PW in a blade. If you then move all the weight down low with mid sized cavity like the S2's and leave the loft at 48*, the ball is going to launch much higher and the will go shorter (assuming the player could get optimal launch conditions with the blade in the first place). To bring the launch back down to a typical PW, or any other iron, when there is that much weight lower you have the decrease loft to get the correct launch conditions for each iron.

I did my iron fitting with an 8 iron and 5 iron using a Trackman to get my results. I also had the same concerns you had when I found out about the lofts. I took the PW, my 52 and 58 to the wedge area and hit to three target greens. My gaps were even.

The Pro MB's, Pro CB's, and the S2's are going to give three different launch conditions for a single player. Same idea behind the Titleist D2, D3, and Dcomp drivers. If you leave loft and shaft the same, the weighting in the heads give three entirely different flights. I have fit players in Dcomps and just switched the head to a D3 (leaving loft and shaft the same) and they can't get the ball in the air with the D3 head.

Go get fit and find out what head design gives you optimal launch conditions for a desired flight. Don't forget a long game fitting also. You might be able to switch around fairways and hybrids to make room for another wedge.
