I recently purchased a new driver with a SMT DB+ 9* loft .5* closed face angle and a Oban Devotion7 04/Stiff flex shaft tipped to play on the soft edge of a 05/X-Stiff.
To my surprise and disappointment, I found the resulting ball flight was about 10% higher than I was looking for.
I have just discovered that the total playing length of this new driver is 45.75".
Should I cut the .75" off of the tip, the butt or a combination of both to achieve a lower ball flight and as little as possible change to the overall flex rating.
I can have a little cut off at a time, but that would cost me $15 to $20 each time I do it.
Who has some helpful advice?

I would cut .5 inches to .75 inches off the butt and see how it plays... I am no genius but every driver I have ever hit longer than 45.25" ,.... I hit a bit higher... They feel so long that I can't seem to "get on top of the ball"... I tend to sweep slap the ball with a long driver....
