A 52 year old Golf Pro who works in a Golf store in Graz, Austria will play all of Austria's 139 Golf courses in the span of 40 days (and nights, if necessary) in June. Scottish born John Gardiner starts his quest on May 27th. In the time he plays those courses, he will collect money for an Austrian charity, a fund which helps to treat children who suffer from cancer and also finances research in this field. There will be a live-blog of John Gardiner's achievement during the time.
The plan means that he will have to play about 60 holes a day (and of course get from one course to the next). He will walk all the courses and carry his bag with 14 clubs at all times. The only help he asks for are golfers with local knowledge to help him play the particular courses ("living birdie books" so to speak). Some prominent athletes who are eager golfers will also help him and play rounds with him on their particular home courses.
