Number of downloads: 5I can't get the last three cleats out. They just spin. I even tried soaking them with WD40. Does anyone have any ideas. Do you know anywhere I can send them? They are same kind of shoes Payne Stewert wore. Made by FORE LTD( tried to contact already). 12 years old and in very nice shape. Thanks. |

I'd try cobbler or machine shop --- I'm guessing they'll have to clip/drill/countersink to remove.

So after you remove the metal spikes, how will you install soft spikes?

Sounds like the metal inserts in the leather soles are loose.
By the way, you can buy these shoes in many styles on ebay brand new for $200 with soft spikes. Not sure if the quality is as good as the originals but they look great. |

It took a while on the vintage Classics that I got last year, but continue to hit the threads with penetrating oil.
I don't know if the FORE LTD shoes shared a common metal plate for the spikes like the Classics. If they are attached individually and strip in the heel, you could be in for trouble. Try locking the metal nub of the spine in vise-grips and see if you can get enough leverage. I ended up using a old spike bit designed to go into a power driver attached to a 12" breaker bar and socket. That was finally enough to get the old spikes out. |

I would keep soaking them with the WD-40 and then tap the end of the spike with a hammer to possibly loosen up the material in the grooves. We do this with old rusty pipes here at work and you would be amazed by hitting something with a hammer a few times how loose it can become. Just a thought I had.

The whole unit is loose. The cleats just spin but don't come out. I tried prying them out, tried the hammer, vice grips. I think cutting them off and then drilling might work. I'd have to find someone to do that for me though. Thanks for all your suggestions so far.

...Made by FORE LTD( tried to contact already). Don't ask me why I do this.....just the challenge, I guess.Just got off the phone with Don Warner, the man who designed that shoe and owned FORE, Ltd. Nice guy. Tony Vecci now sells these. Warner still designs them. Vecci's number is 800.832.2466 website: http://www.veccifashions.com/ click on "Gold Toe shoes"
