Just a random question...Thanks in advance for the replies...

I'm looking to get my initials engraved on my irons...just very small, on the top behind the toe.

I've went to a couple local shops and golfsmith and they said my best bet would be any jewelry store that does engraving. Jst curious if anybody has any experience with this and if there are particular golf shops, besides actual manufactures of course, that will do this.

Thanks!

You can by the stamps from an industrial supplier like McMaster-Carr for under $10 apiece. That is if you want to do it yourself.

I would suggest getting the stamped rather than engraved. As an engraver myself different metals have different properties when it come to engraving, chromed items and hardened items being a real pig to engrave, especially to get any depth, because of the coating is so hard! Plus engraving lends itself to more decorative work than anything as the graver tip is fairly small. In order to get initials that look like the ones u see on tour players clubs u would either need to stamp them, or find someone who can use hammer and chisel to do it...which will b expensive cuz it's done by hand and is time consuming. Plus very few people still know how to use the hammer and chisel for engraving purposes.

On an engraving side note, I have always thought about engraving some golf clubs with scroll work, similar to that of the decorative work u see on the sides of shotguns...I may do one head over the next few months and post pictures on golfwrx

Definately would cool to see. I hope you do this sooner than later!

To the OP:
Try Chip Usher (C&L putters/Chipaputt.com). He did all the hand stampings on my custom putter. He really is good at what he does.

Or Lamont of Manncrafted (golfluvsme on here). He too can do just about anything you want to a club

Both these guys do awesome work.
Good Luck,
Ryan

I bought 1/8" CH Hansen Standard stamps and did it myself. There is even a DIY on here that should you how to do it.

They are the same company that makes Rhino stamps which are heavy duty stamps. The ones I bought have a 1/4" shank so they're not huge, but easy to work with. The Rhinos are expensive, and at a $100 savings for doing the same thing, I decided to go with their standards. I got them for $20 + S&H off ebay.

It's fairly easy as long as you take your time.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a set of A-Z, 0-9 stamps (1/8") from Harbor Freight for $3.50. I have played around with them a little bit and they seem to do the trick just fine. Also I second looking for the DIY on here for an easy step by step process for doing your own stamps.

Here is the DIY link:

Since the price is the same, I would get the 40 piece 1/8" kit. For no additional money, you get additional characters. whether you use them on your clubs or not is irrelevant. You will have them just in case, and it's not costing any additional money.

1/4" or 3/8" letters would look really huge and akward on the clubs, in my opinion.
