I am taking a golf trip in August and we are planning on staying at the Legends Resort and playing the Heathland, Mooreland, and Parkland courses, as well as the TPC of Myrtle Beach. Has anyone here stayed at the Legends and played these courses? I was hoping to get some feedback before I book the trip. Thanks.

Was down there on a trip in March with 15 other guys. The Legends is a great place to stay, as it has nice accomadations, although you will have to drive if you are looking for nightlife (outside of hanging out and drinking in the rooms). As for courses, the three onsite are very nice. I would rate Moorland and Parkland even with Healthland a step below (although still enjoyable). If you have an option and don't mind driving for one more round, see if you can trade out Healthland for Heritage Club.

TPC was a good course when I played it, though not worth the money we paid. I'd have rather played Caledonia, True Blue, or even World Tour before TPC. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice golf course and is in excellent condition. But it's nothing special imo.

Some good advice so far I think.
I have played all that you mention. My particular favorites include:

Thanks for the advice so far. One of the reasons we have chose the Legends courses and the TPC because we are going to be able to stay and play for $385 a person.

I played Legends Heathland last week. It was a nice course and in good shape. We also played Long bay and Wild Wing Avocet. The Heathland course was the easiest of the three. Also, I highly recommend Wild Wing Avocet. Course was in perfect shape and we hardly saw anyone else out there.

In addition to those, you should really try to get on Myrtle Beach National North Course. It is called King's North. I play in Myrtle every chance I get(live about an hour and a half away) and Kings North is by far my favorite course. I have played Heathland, Tidewater, TPC, World Tour and Wicked Stick in the past 12 months and Kings North is by far the nicest. Plus you get to take a run at the Gambler. For those of you that have played it, hopefully you can chime in. Actually heading down there this weekend to play Beechwood and Man 'O War. I can't wait.

I have played Man 'O War a few times and love it. We were thinking about playing the Witch, Wizard, and Man 'O War this trip, but couldn't pass up the great deal we got at the Legends. How did you do this weekend? |

The beauty of M.B. ..... many choices (course, location, price). Best place to do a golf trip in my opinion.
My only knock is that I haven't found the 'ideal' lodging yet. Plenty of decent places... but haven't found that place that says 'stay here'. |

We stay here every 2 years during out trip.
http://www.caribbeanresort.com/ IMO- The place is great. They just built a high rise building with 3 bedroom condos. If your in a group of 4 or more, this is great place to stay. Last year our group was only 4 guys and we stayed in the new high rise (Cayman Tower). The place is right on the beach and centrally located. No matter which course we play, its never more than a 35 to 40 min drive. Plus its next door to Captains, which has the best buffet at Myrtle, all included in the package. The beach and the pools at this resort is also great. I highly recommend this place. This post has been edited by freddiec: May 11 2009, 03:10 PM |

Played all of the Legends. Especially like a "legends" course called Oyster Bay. In August, it will be VERY hot and humid so be prepared for that. Liked Heritage and their elephant greens, also. (must have buried elephants underneath they are so mounded).

Every time I have been to Myrtle Beach, we have stayed at the Caribbean. Wonderful resort. It just doesn't fit into our price range at the time of year we are going this year. It would cost about $550 to go the first week of August, whereas the Legends is costing us $360. I will definitely miss the breakfast at the Captains. It is out of this world. |

Legends Resort is good, courses are all interesting and playable. I second the option of MB National, played King's North and West course in February and both tracks are better than Legends, and very close. We also played TPC -great Tom Fazio track, top end service.
We stayed at Litchfield in Feb - $460 each for 6 rounds, 4 nights lodging and cooked to order breakfast every day. Played Litchfied, River Club, and Willbrook in addition to TPC and MB National courses. Barefoot courses (all but Norman) are excellent but expensive. |

The Legends, IMO, is one of the better places to stay! All the courses there are good.
for the TPC MB, you can see pics of the course here: TPC Myrtle Beach Pictures |
