From Wikipedia: "Axel is a Scandinavian form of the name Absalom[1] meaning "Father of peace"." (Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axel)

It sounds as though both Elin and Tiger put a lot of thought into that middle name. It seems very appropriate to me.

EDIT: They might well be "Lost" fans, too. Charlie's sacrifice of his own life in that show was pretty stirring.

Congrats Tiger and Elin. As for everyone else on the PGA tour... as if he needed anymore incentive to win, he now has another mouth he has to feed.

I hope his middle name is Earl, and his first is... Benjamin!

Benjamin Earl Woods... Sounds like a winner :-)

We actually did that when my son was born 10 months ago, his first name is Benjamin & his middle name is Larry, after my Dad, who passed away in 2003. Great minds think alike! If only Tiger had thought of that....

Awesome!!! Damn it Tiger, Think next time!

I read that he might have been named after Charlie Sifford, the first African-American to receive a PGA tour card and be inducted into the WGHOF. I also read that Elin might have a brother named Axel.
