FT-3 10deg draw with Fuji Rombax 6X07 stiff, 44.5'' - simple bomber setup. I can't seem to kick this thing out, when my swing is on I haven't found anything longer. Decent forgiveness too on sweet spot misses and swing error.
FT-i 9deg draw with Ozik X-Con 5 firm, 45.75'' (gonna bring it down to 45'') - Very Straight, but also very very High and shorter then the FT-3 setup. Forgiving on off center hits, but swing error (which I have plenty of) seems to be punished pretty bad. There is a battle in my bag right now for which driver to play, been playing my FT-3 for quite sometime now, and my FT-i didn't last very long even after going thru a fitting for it. But for some reason after not touching it for a month I've been able to hit my FT-i decently and it might be closing in on my FT-3 distance. Right now I'm carrying both either alternating driving holes or using 1 for the the front 9 then switching to the other on the back. Maybe I should just sell both and get a FT-5 ---- damn this place, it's made me such a ho. This post has been edited by ArchangelGT: Sep 13 2007, 08:23 PM |

Titleist 983K 9.5* Fujikura Speeder Stiff
Titelist 905R 9.5* GBD YS-6 Stiff The Speeder is my primary driver. The 983K has been the most consistant and solid driver I've ever played. The sound and feel when it's hit in the screws is uncomparable. I also think distance wise it keeps up nicely against today's 460 cc cannons and is fairly forgiving for it's 365 cc head. 9/16 edit- Picked up the 905R today and hope I will like it as well as the 983K. I have been contemplating this for months and just took the leap. This post has been edited by memphishorn: Sep 16 2007, 08:03 AM |

I must have had 4 or 5 different drivers in my bag only this year. (Golf equipement neurosis has been very active.)
Currently I'm playing a Wilson Staff Dd6 w. Grafalloy ProLaunch stiff. I think the thing is great, but my swing has been off most of the summer. On my decent swings though the ball goes straight as an arrow. |

STARTER - r7 Quad TP 9.5* - Harrison PRO 2.5 X ( Tipped 1.5" )
*Weighting from Toe to Heel - 14,10,2,2* Set it up this way to counteract my draw. Basically, I'm very straight off the tee, to a hardly noticable draw. I'm still able to draw the ball, even with it set up for a fade. I'd say it sits about .5*open at address. BACKUP - R510 TP 9.5* - Fujikura TOUR SPEC SPD-660TR XX. This shaft was originally in my r7, but I didn't like that combo. I may send this driver to Mr.Kwok to work some magic on it. I was thinking of getting it bent about 3* open. I get too much draw with it for my liking, hence the wanting to open the face up a few degrees. The shaft feels much better in this head for some reason. I'd say it sits pretty much dead square at address. Phil. This post has been edited by phil05nike: Sep 14 2007, 06:50 AM |

I an currently using a Nike SQ tour with 9.5 degree's of loft , i bought it from a friend as the head only and shafted it with a Pro force 65 shaft with regular flex at a length of 43 3/4 , i like this club because for me it's a anti - left club and i average about 240 to 255 in distance , i am not all that concerned about the distance but as long as keep from hitting it left it will stay in the bag |

TaylorMade R7 Quad HT 11.5* Stock Stiff Shaft.
I play it because I find the smaller head (400cc) very pleasing at address. I only started a few years ago and the last time I looked at a golf club was a Big Bertha Warbird (185cc) so the 460cc head really gave me an awkward feeling at address. And the R7 was only $149 which at the time was exactly in my preferred price range. |

Went back to my trusty 983k 9.5* with YS - 6 S today after a few weeks off. Much easier to manipulate the head and ball flight than my 460s with the Superquad being runner up. Will put the Titleist back in the bag for a while.

BurnerTP. It's high launch, low spin and my carry and overall are longer than every other driver I've had. Also the face is slightly open, I like to hit a slight fade and this helps eliminate the left side. It's definitely showing, hitting fw's deeper and more often.

R510TP with Aldila NVS 65 in Stiff flex. It sets up square to open, feels like a driver should to me, and has the correct shaft for my ball flight.
It replaced an R7 Quad TP that felt a bit tinny and was sold quickly after I finally got to a launch monitor recently and the R7 yielded consistant launch angles less than 6*. A bit much even with the wind here in Texas. My personal record was a 2.7* launch that carried 214. |

Cobra Speed Pro D, 8.5 degrees bent a degree open, Aldila ProtoPYPE 70-x shaft, at 45.25 inches, spined to draw.
The head is heavy, and this thing swings like a sledge hammer.... tight dispersion, long flat ball flight and low spin.... what the heck could you ask for... it carries long and bounces an additional 15-50 yards depending on the playing surface. When you hit it, you can almost feel the ball compress and explode off the face. I think it is all the shaft though, because I had a BlueBoard 73x in the head, and hit a number of higher lazier shots. Once I switched to the PYPE, I have been booming them. |

Cobra X Speed Pro D with an Aldila SVS6 shaft. I love this club, its 4*open which i love it totally takes the left side of the course out of play. I love the fact that i can hit this low or high whenever i want. The shaft makes this club great, its one of the smoothest shafts i have ever hit. This set up equals a high power rocket launcher!!!!

Another TM R7 425 TP here. A 9.5 with an Aldila VS Proto 80g X Stiff shaft tipped 1".
Why bacause it feels awsome. Had an r580 8.5 with an Aldila HM 40 Tour Gold 95g X Stiff shaft that was in my bag for a good while. It was the best driver that I had, still have it. There were only two things about that bugged me 1) after getting the VS shaft in my 3W the HM 40 felt way too whippy, and 2) the face seemed too closed. I will be keeping this driver in the bag for a good long time. |

Callaway Ft -5 Tour 9.5
Fujikura e 360 fit on stiff Neutral weight set up I tried a great deal of drivers at the first of the year, being it is golf weather here in California year round, and this driver stood out as a winner. I find the head is very forgiving yet workable. I like the control I get from the shaft and head combo. The trajectory is perfect. Now I am not a long hitter at all, but I can find loads of fairways at 260 yards out all round long with my Ft-5. The sound that bothers some will become not anoying in no time. The simple appearance of the head is first rate. Callaway's best driver to date IMO. If it was not this one the second place would go to the Ping G5 with an ALdila NVS shaft. I played the ft-3 when it first came out and liked it a lot, then went ho 'n and never saw one again in the bag. I think the latest model the "Ft-5" is quite a bit better than the original ft-3, and the Fuji shaft is so perfect for me, I had it put in all my r7 ti fairway woods. Now my one complaint is the head cover is the worst looking thing. I will not use it on the club. Who told the OEM's (now PING too) that burnt orange or a rust color is appealing? I play the 905T with a V2 75G X flex. It came with a Speeder shaft and I didn't like the results I was getting. I got it reshafted as soon as the V2's came out and I love it. I got the 905T because it was the one I hit the best when I demoed 5 other drivers. Although I've demoed some other drivers in particular the Superquad TP and that might just end up in my bag sometime soon.

Titleist 983E with ACCRA SC-75.
Why?: I prefer the trajectory and feel face-loaded clubs such as my old Bridgestone J's Weapons and the 983E was familiar to me in that regard. The ACCRA SC-75 shaft is very accurate and the weight is such that I don't lose the club in my swing the way I did when I tried ~65 gram shafts. Also, I tend to miss the ball up and down on the face rather than fore and aft, so the deep face of the 983E gives me plenty of confidence. The TaylorMade Spoon I play is also a face-loaded club so the 983E was a good match with it to my eyes - not too big. |

Make: Titleist
Model: 905 T & 905 S Loft: 9.5 in both Shaft: Fujikura tour Platform X in both Reason: I use the T most of the time, unless its realy windy ( like the norm in the UK) then i use the S as it brings the ball out on a slightly lower flight. Plus i havnt found any other driver that can make me leave em out of the bag. |

I wish I could hit a driver to save my life. I hit my friend's R7 425 (i think it is a 425...smaller then the 460 head anyway) very well out to 280 and even hit a couple 300 par 4 greens before.
but most of the time it's 250 up the FW and then 75 yards right....i give up. got rid of the big dog and tee off with a 14* hybrid and put it about 240-250 out there. maybe someday i will be able to hit a driver.... |

Set up to the ball with your driver as normal. Feet parallel to the target line, ball opposite your left armpit, weight balanced and relaxed. Now, turning your chest and arms together as if attached, move the club-head (and your sternum) back behind the ball about 5/6 inches. Look at a piece of grass just in front of the club face and swing over that place as if it were the ball. Try to square the club-face at that place, not at the ball. Don't look at the ball at all during the swing - only your bit of grass 5 inches behind. If you are suddenly drawing the ball too much look at a place closer to the ball and if you are fading it, which I doubt, look further back. I used this to fix a friend's driving last week. He was the biggest slicer I have ever seen. 180 yards of carry, 50-60 yards left to right and enormously high and weak. Have faith, you have nothing to lose. Set up, turn 6 inches behind the ball, relax, watch only you bit of grass throughout the swing and imagine that's where the ball is. Only works with driver for obvious reasons. |
