A Word of Thanks & Appreciation To Team Golfwrx

I would like to take a moment to thank Team Golfwrx for this wonderful Forum that you have put together for all of us who enjoy this great passion for the wonderful game of golf. You have somehow found the "Magic Formula" for knowing how to run and administer a Forum. Your Administrators seem to possess the uncanny ability to know when to shut something down, and conversely, when to let it run, to allow members to "Vent their Spleens" as it were, (The guy who didn't like walk on singles, asking to join their threesome, comes to mind.) You have successfully conveyed the understanding that we can agree to disagree, as long as it is undertaken in a civil manner. We all realize on this forum that it is not what you say, but how you say it which allows us the freedom to voice our opinions. Golf can be a highly competitive and frustrating endeavor at times, and after a particularly frustrating experience, it is rewarding and somewhat of a consolation to be able to get other players viewpoints and opinions on whatever transpired. It is of particular enjoyment for me to read the posts of the international community who fervently post on the forum, as Golfwrx is truly international in it's scope, and welcomes anyone, anywhere, who enjoys the game of golf to participate, and we here in the USA welcome and enjoy that participation. For me, Golfwrx has become a partner to my "Three Fingers" of Scotch after a long day on the course. I don't post nearly as much as I read, and I have spent hours enjoying the viewpoints , opinions, and comments from other players from around the globe, both young and old, high capper and low capper, male or female. I have learned much about equipment, accessories, techniques, different courses, just to name a few areas, and I have been playing this game for longer than I'd care to admit. The list goes on and on. This little note is not intended to be "Soapy" in any manner or fashion, rather I just wanted to convey my thanks and appreciation to those responsible for putting the forum together. A job well done! To all forum members....."Keep Hitting Them Long and Straight"

Disappointed in my soon to be former club.

About a year and a half ago I joined the 2nd tier country club in town. I have lived in town all my life, knew several members and had played as a guest several times a year for many years. I knew going in it was not as well manicured as the lead club in town but I preferred the people, pace of play and the general feeling of this club.

Cost wise it was a pretty fair deal for a family membership that included golf, pool and dinning priveleges. I actually got the first four (winter months) free just having to pay the food minimum. At first it was great, 3 hour rounds, people with golf etiquete it felt like it would be home for some time to come. I am a good member, I buy what I need primarily from our pro, I bring guests several times as well as potential members.

All was good until this past spring. Like many clubs the ecomomy hurt us, and the board offered a membership level 66% of the cost of the lowest available plan at the time. Club management stated in wrtiting they would limit the number of the "cheap" memberships to no more than 150 and they would limit the amount of time they would offer the plan. To date the plan is still available and there is over 250 people on it. Additionally when I expressed my concern they assured me they would limit the access of the new members to the course, because they had the last priority in tee times. That did not hold true either, the "cheap" members have the same access those of us paying more do.

Add to that the quality of person who took the deal has made playing the course no fun. People will pick up your ball right out of the fairway while playing an opposite hole. They jump in front of you when your turning nine because the back nine is preferred by most. Play is slow, fivesomes are common and sixsomes are not unheard of. There has been zero attempt to improve the course with the new monthly income and there has been no reward for patient commited members who have stayed the course.

I am commited until March 2010 at which time I will write them my last check, it is sad. I predict the club will be sold or become public within a year. Management and the board have ran it into the ground and alienated higher dues paying long time members. Integrity is an important thing in this life and I cannot stomach the way these people do business. It is a true disappointment that something I had always wanted to try (a club membership) has ended up being such a negative experience.

Thanks for listening and remember, buyer beware.

i was wondering if anyone can help me with a question. I've heard people say that they play on staff for a certain company; what is a staff player and who is it for? Are they for people that work in the golf industry and just represent the brand, or is it meant to support and help develop upcoming amateurs? Thanks

I just got these to replace my Cleveland Reds. Went back to the DG S300's from the PX 5.5 that I'd put on the Cleveland's. Found these blades on eBay and a lady had them listed seperately for $80 each for the 6-W. Sent her an email asking if she'd sell the five clubs together and she agreed. Offered her $150 for the group and she took it. I was happy. I know many don't like the look of the "Z" on the back, but I like the business side of the irons quite well. They work for me. They're like throwing those old lawn darts in the back yard. Most accurate club I've ever played.
http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=497902
I figured when I bought the blades that I might not need a 5 iron, but soon after decided I had to have one to fill a gap right at 200 yds.
Robert Allenby in Dubai

Robert Allenby was interviewed after his 65 this morning and was asked about the conforming irons that he played for the first time yesterday, and had in the bag today during the 1st round of the Dubai World Championship. Excited was the word he used. He talked about how in the past hitting the ball close only to see it spin 40 yards back killed him and how excited he was to play without the spin.
When asked about how they would react to thick rough (it's only an inch long out there) he was fairly non-commital and repeated how pleased he was with the new irons.
An interesting take on the issue I thought.

BADS NEWS FOR GOLF FANS - 2010 LPGA Tournament Schedule

Hey everyone, what do you think about this article:

http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/blog/devil_ba...urn=golf,203336

I will post the text of it here for you to read:

Buoyed by the success of Michelle Wie this past weekend and feelin' the thrill of the unexpected spotlight, the LPGA announces its 2010 schedule this weekend. And, well -- how best to say this? -- there's going to be a fair amount of time for players to work on their off-course events.Golfweek's Beth Ann Baldry was apparently the first one to post a leak of the 2010 schedule, revealing that there will be 23 events but only six before June. Last year, the LPGA announced 31 events for this year, but only 27 of those were actually played. (2008 had 34 events announced, all of which were played.) So the backloading of events for 2010 doesn't necessarily mean that there will be even 23 events played. On the plus side, Baldry announced that Wegmans will sponsor the LPGA Championship next year, replacing McDonald's and providing a welcome infusion of cash.

About 90 minutes after Golfweek, Golf Digest delivered a comprehensive schedule with specific dates. As Golf Digest LPGA expert Ron Sirak noted, "The 2010 schedule was put together under extremely trying circumstances: A mix of a bad economy and bad blood among tournament owners left over the the Carolyn Bivens commissionership. Many of the tournaments acting commissioner Marty Evans was able to lure back returned at lower purses."

There are 17 off weeks -- 17! -- between the season-leading Honda LPGA in mid-February and the LPGA Tour Championship nine months later. A big chunk of that time comes in the spring, when the LPGA plays two events, takes four weeks off, plays two more events, then takes another four weeks off, plays another two weeks, takes another four weeks off. That's six events in four months.

The LPGA has substantial challenges before it, but this one's the biggest. If they can't stay on the course to play the freakin' game, all the PR outreach efforts in the world aren't going to matter one bit.
