One of those rare athletes recognizable by fans, from the fanatical to the casual, by first name only, announced her retirement from golf today. “I have made a decision to step away from competitive golf after this season,” she said at the Sybase Classic. “Obviously this was a very difficult decision for me to make because I love this game so much. But it’s the right one.” Annika Sorenstam will be leaving the game she has dominated for so many years.

Anthony Kim became the youngest winner on the PGA tour in six years at the tender age of 22. He certainly played with the style and substance of someone far older. Beginning the day with a four shot lead, Mr. Kim gave nothing back, rather adding a stroke to his margin of victory. “I’m a little bit numb right now, but that walk up 18 was the best feeling of my entire life,” Kim said. “I’ll never forget that feeling. I had chills going up and down my spine. I want to recreate that as many times as possible now, so I’m really going to work hard.”
Paula “Pink Panther” Creamer, 21, beat her good buddy, 47-year-old Juli Inkster, on the second playoff hole to win the SemGroup Championship at the Cedar Ridge Country Club, Broken Arrow, OK.
