Odyssey’s new White Hot Pro putters dial in feel and fit
There’s plenty that’s new with Odyssey’s White Hot Pro putters — the lineup has new models, a new finish and a new fitting system. But what many golfers will like the most about the company’s new putters is something that’s old — the feel of the company’s original White Hot putter insert.
Despite all the new inserts Odyssey has released throughout the years, 60 percent of touring professionals continue to use the original White Hot insert in their putters. That’s why Odyssey has decided use the White Hot insert in both of its major putter lines for 2013 — White Hot Pro and its Versa series (click here for more information on Odyssey’s Versa putters).
According to Austie Rollinson, principal designer for Odyssey, the White Hot inserts in the new lineup feel the same as the old inserts. But they’re made with a new laser-cutting process that creates tighter tolerances to make the urethane inserts feel and sound more consistent than the original.
The White Hot Pro putters also have a new look that sets them apart from previous lines– a PVD (physical vapor disposition) finish that resembles a traditional gunmetal finish but doesn’t require constant maintenance to prevent rusting.
The White Hot Pro line includes models #1, #2 CS, #5, #7, #9 and Rossie, as well as the V-Line 2-Ball, D.A.R.T and D.A.R.T. Mini models for $129.
Odyssey is also releasing adjustable-weight models of the D.A.R.T, D.A.R.T mini, 2-Ball and 2-Ball Blade (all for $179) that include adjustable weights and a wrench that allows golfers to increase to the head weight from 350 grams to 360 or 370 grams.

Odyssey has also released it new EyeFit System, which helps golfers decide on a putter model based on their setup position. According to Rollinson, the closer a golfer’s eyes are to the ball at setup, the more likely it is for a golfer to have a straight-back, straight-through stroke. Likewise, the farther away a golfer’s eyes are from the ball, the more likely a golfer is to have an arched stroke.
Odyssey’s Versa and White Hot Pro putters for 2013 have a dash system on the sole that corresponds to the four different eye positions a golfer can have at address. The EyeFit’s mirrored finish shows golfers their eye position at address and recommends a range of putter models that will best fit their predicted stroke type. Watch the video below for more information on EyeFit, and check out the gallery for more photos of the White Hot Pro putters.

What are the best golf socks? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, not everything is about club selection and shaft options. A heated debate has bubbled up surrounding the best sock options players can wear on the course.
@CletePurcel asked:
“Just bought 2 new pairs of FootJoy shoes and trying to find out the most favorable socks to wear. I try to walk 9 holes two to three times a week and good socks are a must. Thanks in advance.
Members in the forum chimed in with their favorite footwear accessories. Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- Maroon_19: “I’ve only worn Kentwool socks for golf for the last 8 years – regardless of weather. I walk 90% of my rounds and play anywhere from 50-75 rounds a year (going to go up as I just retired). They only get worn for golf. As long as you care for them, they’ll care for you. Have had zero blisters with them. I just started using my second set of 8 pair for our Bandon trip earlier this month. The old ones will now go into the daily wear rotation. Still good after all these years.”
- smoova: “I’ve had good luck with Swiftwick. Walk every round 12 months a year in Colorado.”
- Hawkeye77: “FJ Pro ProDry is what I’m usually wearing just because I have more of them, but I’ve got some Smartwool socks I love for the wool aspect – they sell them as running socks. The thicker socks are better for certain shoes. I’ve gone merino/other wool in almost all my socks – athletic, “dress” and so forth – no more “Orlon”, lol, some golf socks are the exception.”
- th6252: “Another vote for Kentwool, honorable mentions to Balega and Falke(thanks to someone on this forum for turning me onto the RU3).”
