GolfWRX adds Sara Brown as on-course reporter

Published

on

Symetra Tour player Sara Brown has agreed to become an on-course reporter for GolfWRX.com, the world’s largest online golf community.

Brown is best known as a two-time contestant on the Golf Channel’s Big Break (Sandals Resorts and Dominican Republic). She will travel with the GolfWRX team to select PGA Tour events in 2013 to interview PGA Tour players and star in GolfWRX’s “What’s in the Bag” videos.

“We look forward to a long-term relationship with Sara,” said Richard Audi, GolfWRX Co-Founder and President. “She’s been on our radar since we saw her on the Big Break in 2010. She’s a fan favorite, shares a great passion for the game and is a natural on camera.”

Brown, a Tucson, Ariz., native, played collegiate golf at Michigan State University, where she was honored as the university’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

She played on the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour events in 2011. In 2012, Brown competed on the Symetra Tour, and won her first professional tournament, The My Marsh Classic in Fishers, Ind., with rounds of 75-67-69.

“Working with GolfWRX is going to be amazing,” Brown said. “I just love that GolfWRX is willing to work around my playing schedule. I do want to play professionally and I am playing professionally, but after the Big Break I definitely saw myself doing something like this. It’s going to be great fun being on the PGA Tour with those guys. As a golfer, I want to talk to those guys and I want to know what clubs they’re playing.”

Audi said the decision to hire Brown as an on-course reporter is one of many components that will continue to improve the GolfWRX viewer experience. In the last year, the site has added more than 50 writers to its Featured Writers Program, which provides both amateur and professional journalists the opportunity to hone their skills and grow their exposure on GolfWRX’s front page.

“Our editorial army of writers has allowed us to grow at unprecedented levels,” Audi said. “In the last three months, we’ve see 40 percent growth in traffic. We’ve also had well over 2.7 million page views and 1 million unique views in January (2013).”

In the coming months, GolfWRX will be releasing its GolfWRX TV site, which will allow for the broadcasting of GolfWRX photos and videos as well the photos and videos of its readership.

This is awesome. Funny thing is, I met her at a Cactus tour event today. Very nice girl, witty personality. I was actually there to support a friend playing and setting up more events for the Cactus tour. I think she will be an awesome addition to the Golf Wrx community.

Some of the biggest names in golf have taken home the title here, including Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, and Ben Crenshaw.
