FlightScope’s new VX2 App
FlightScope continues to improve the performance of its Doppler radar software with its VX2 App. Available for both iOS mobile (iPad, iPhone, iPod) and Android devices, the VX2 app works in conjunction with the popular FlightScope X2 Launch Monitor.
The VX2 App allows the player to see both club and ball data alongside video of the swing. FlightScope is focusing on utilizing the power of tablets like the iPad to create a 3D environment that allows users to view ballflight and club path from any angle.
While launch monitors are primarily thought of as fitting tools, the FlightScope VX2 app opens up a world for teachers to utilize. The app allows users to zoom in and out from all angles, draw lines over swing video and utilize the power of the 3D rendering. In addition, users can set goals and play games with FlightScope’s Skills Challenge app, which allows users to generate targets on the range to test their skills against themselves or the FlightScope community. Since FlightScope measures ball data from the time the shot is struck until it lands, the results promise to be very accurate.
The FlightScope Skills Challenge app is currently available for all Apple iOS and Android devices. The VX2 app will also be available on both platforms in early February.

Rickie Fowler’s new putter: Standard-length Odyssey Jailbird 380 in custom orange
Editor’s note: This is an excerpt from a piece our Andrew Tursky originally wrote for PGATour.com’s Equipment Report. Head over there for the full article.
…The Jailbird craze hasn’t really slowed down in 2024, either. According to Odyssey rep Joe Toulon, there are about 18-20 Jailbird putter users on the PGA TOUR.
Most recently, Akshay Bhatia won the 2024 Valero Texas Open using a broomstick-style Odyssey Jailbird 380 putter and Webb Simpson is switching into a replica of that putter at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.
Now, Fowler, who essentially started the whole Jailbird craze, is making a significant change to his putter setup.
Fowler, who has had a couple weeks off since the 2024 RBC Heritage, started experimenting with a new, custom-orange Jailbird 380 head that’s equipped with a standard 35-inch putter build, rather than his previous 38-inch counter-balanced setup.
According to Fowler, while he still likes the look and forgiveness of his Jailbird putter head, he’s looking to re-incorporate more feel into his hands during the putting stroke.
He told GolfWRX.com on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Championship that the 38-inch counterbalanced setup “served its purpose” by helping him to neutralize his hands during the stroke, but now it’s time to try the standard-length putter with a standard-size SuperStroke Pistol Tour grip to help with his feel and speed control.
Although Fowler was also spotted testing standard-length mallets from L.A.B. Golf and Axis1 on Tuesday, he confirmed that the custom Odyssey Jailbird 380 is the putter he’ll use this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

Does the VX2 app use the ipads camera for video? I ask because I´ve read the FlightScope’s inbuilt camera is only for target alignment, not swing video.
Is the VX2 available for Android(where I can get a much better camera than on the ipad)? No bracket that way though, huh?

I can’t find a published price for the flight scope itself. Their website has financing options, so it’s probably not cheap. I’d love to own my own flight monitor though.

I believe he said same price as current one, $49 . Also I thought he said the game style app was separate and would be ab $10. Sorry I’m not quite sure but I talked to about 6 flightscope guys . Anyway I used it. It is blow you away awesome. Automaticly syncs the video through the x2 to the side on you iPad , and flight data on other side in simultaneous movement. Totally portable. Grab your x2 and iPad and that’s it. No wires, no plug ins. Just awesome .

Not to be pessimistic but unless the iPad had changes their video recently, wouldn’t you still get the shutter roll during analysis? I just purchased the FS
and having video and 3d would be ideal, but only if the video isn’t producing distortion of movement.

Owen,
I’m not sure. I did see live demonstration. It was sunny and perfect. It was clear as a bell, smooth. Not getting the same distortion as the video from the iPad. I don’t know if it’s because flightscope has a better camera, or better compression software on video. Outside and sunny it is stunning. Indoors not so sure. Mine is on a ups truck today. I can’t wait. I will post up in the forums after I get it .
