Honma TR20B blade irons added to Tour Release line

Published

on

The Honma TR20B iron was something we originally spotted earlier this year at the 2020 PGA Show in its prototype form, and now it is officially available for purchase through Honma retailers and at Honma Experience mobile fittings.

Early Prototype TR20B with an alternative finish on muscle.

The TR20B irons round out Honma’s TR20—Tour Release 2020—line which also includes the TR20V and TR20P irons. They are a one-piece S20C forged construction to create premium feel and offer maximum shot-shaping control.

“It’s important that Honma delivers a purpose-built iron design that both fits and excites players within every skill set. With the TR20B, skilled players who rely on accuracy and true feel now have more than just another boring blade. The TR20B brings inspiration every time you pull it out of your bag or set it on the ground. It’s a thing of beauty as well as top-end performance,” – Honma’s General Manager Chris McGinley.

The blade’s design was hand-shaped by Honma’s inhouse Takumi “artisans” and bring together a traditional blade shape with a modern-day topline and sole profile. The most noticeable design characteristic is the straighter topline with low heel into hosel transition—this is a shape profile designed with the North American market in mind.

With the TR20B irons, Honma is continuing the trend of OEMs building lines of clubs with combo sets in mind. They can easily be blended with the TR20V or TR20P long irons for extra forgiveness and launch.

The TR20B irons epitomize the characteristics of a “classic blade” with a modern twist.

Specs, Price & Availability

The Honma TR20B irons are available now, come stock with Nippon Modus3 120 S shafts, and are priced at $188.00 per club.

Taylormade May have beaten Honma to the release of these irons but I’m pretty sure that Kevin Chappell has them in the bag awhile ago.

I’m so sick of Covid, this Groundhog Day is now infecting golf.
I just lived this day last week after Morikawa won.

A copy of their prototype that was out months ago? Do you have any idea how long it takes to build forging dies? If you think this is a copy… I have no words.

Published

At GolfWRX, we love golf equipment plain and simple.

We are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment for the game in many ways. It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball, it even allows us to share another thing – the equipment itself.

One of the best ways to enjoy equipment is to experiment and whether you are looking to buy-sell-or trade (as the name suggests) you can find almost anything in the GolfWRX BST Forum. From one-off custom Scotty Cameron Circle T putters, to iron sets, wedges, and barely hit drivers, you can find it all in our constantly updated marketplace.

These are some of the latest cool finds from the GolfWRX BST, and if you are curious about the rules to participate in the BST Forum you can check them out here: GolfWRX BST Rules

Member Tourseeking – Rare Cameron Maiden America cover

There are rare, and then there are really rare covers and this falls squarely in the really rare category. It’s priced according but would make a great addition to any collection.

Were used to seeing rare and hard to find, but it’s not often Ping releases something that captures attention like this. The bag is new with tags and is being offered at a great deal!

What GolfWRXers are saying about this ‘filthy good combo’

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been responding to a driver combo which one of our members swears by. The WRXer in question is ‘QuigleyDU’ who has paired up Taylormade’s Original One (13.5 degrees) with a Fujikura Ventus Red 9x (Tipped 1″). On the combo, ‘QuigleyDU’ says he uses it as a second option off the tee and praises its launch qualities.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • b.helts: “It sure looks good. I love the smaller size and the profile of the Original One. Been looking for an 11.5 to make up a short bag. But the 11.5 are rarer than hen’s teeth.”
  • BlueDragonKorea: “The creativity to build this club.. wow!”
  • Puttersaurus Rex: “Glad I clicked. Nice looking build! I also play driver, then OO mini. My mini is the 11.5 turned up. With Motore speeder 6.1 – not as beastly, but such a fun club. Mine is 43.5″, and is used as a safe option off the tee.”
  • bladehunter: “Ventus red – the underrated red-headed stepchild of the Ventus line. I love mine in a driver. If you’re a guy who doesn’t have a positive AOA with driver, try the red. Gets it up and doesn’t spin.”

Entire Thread: “This combo is filthy good”
