Vokey adds low-bounce T-Grind to WedgeWorks
Master Craftsman Bob Vokey’s T-Grind wedge featuring a low bounce and a narrow crescent surface is now available through WedgeWorks.
The T-Grind wedge contains a wider back flange compared to the L-Grind, which aims to provide lower measured bounce, and per the company, is designed “for great hands and a vivid short-game imagination.”
Designed for players looking for a shallow angle of attack in firm conditions, the Vokey T-Grind lob wedges both feature in the bags of tour professional’s Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
Reaching out to Vokey Wedge Rep, Aaron Dill, we got the lowdown on the new T-Grind:
GolfWRX: What was the origin of the T-Grind?
AD: The T-grind started with the collaborative efforts of both Bob Vokey and Tom Pernice. Tom has an incredible short game and ability to articulate feedback that Bob trusts when designing and studying soles. Together they created the T; it’s today one of the best low bounce offerings we have.
GolfWRX: Who is it for?
AD: The T is a great low bounce option that caters to players wanting the ability to slide under the ball in the open position. The wedge fits firm conditions and firm bunkers, or players with impeccable technique who want the most versatility.
GolfWRX: What do Jordan and JT like about it?
AD: Both Jordan and JT love this grind because it sits so close to the ground when open. This visual inspires confidence and gives them the freedom to be aggressive in every short game situation.
The T-Grind features the same technology found in Vokey’s SM8 wedges. As a recap, that includes a reimagined progressive CG pushed forward from the face for increased MOI designed to provide improved distance, trajectory control and better feel. The wedges also include 100% inspected spin milled grooves which aim to produce maximum spin and shot control.
Speaking on the T-Grind, Bob Vokey stated
“Wedge play is an art, and the T-Grind brings out the best in the artist. The leading edge stays low to the playing surface as the wedge is rotated which allows you to hit a variety of shots from tight lies. This is the wedge that really made Vokey Grinds an important part of our process – and still to this day is a great option.”

Spotted: Nate Lashley’s Ping PLD “Wolverine” putter
Ping PLD putters have been a very common site on profesional tours. Pros seem to gravitate toward the PLD line’s custom options and precision milling. We have seen the PLD line expanded over the years, but we haven’t seen too many, if any, large mallets.
This week we spotted a PLD putter in Nate Lashley’s bag that has a similar look to the old Ping Wolverine head shape. This putter is a large mallet with the famous “claws” on the outside and oval center that housed the alignment aid.
Nick’s putter has the PLD logo on the back but also looks like it might have an insert installed on the face. It is hard to tell but at the address picture, it looks like the face is a lighter material than the rest of the putters. The putter is center-shafted and should be face-balanced with a high MOI for stability and forgiveness on mishits. The sole is completely milled and has no markings of name or technologies that might be present in the head. A single white site line is on the top of the putter for alignment.
Nick’s putter is finished off with a chrome steel shaft and a Super Stroke Zenergy Flatso 2.0 grip in black and white.
