What GolfWRXers are saying about Dustin Johnson using three different putters in three events to restart the year
In our forums, our members have been discussing Dustin Johnson’s use of three different putters to restart his year. DJ used the TaylorMade Truss TB1 at the Travelers and gained six strokes on the green, after playing the Spider Tour Black at Colonial and a custom Spider Mini at the RBC Heritage (lost strokes at both.) Our members have been discussing DJ’s putting and TM’s Truss TB1 in our forums.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- MattUtah: “The Truss is actually a good putter; it just looks too different for most. If pros start winning with it, you’ll see public opinion shift rapidly.”
- enfuego: “I can almost feel the forgiveness when rolling one at the store. Also, DJ made three putts outside 20 feet and mentioned his alignment was much better. He’s said it before though when he went through 15 different top lines on the spider.”
- iyi4iyian: “Watching the entire round today, this was the best he rolled the rock since probably the US Open.”
- Golfjack: “If he putts well with it, all the more power to him. He’s not gaming the center shaft one (that’s the real ugly one, though I like center shafted putters). I think his has just a little toe hang.”

Johnson also used the Truss at Colonial – believe in final round. He putted so badly with it that I texted a friend the putter might go to a watery grave to the left of 18. Sink even better with the added heel weight.
He must have found something on the practice green that really worked.
