Puma and Rickie Fowler collaborate with Arnie’s Army to create 2020 Arnold Palmer limited collection
Puma Golf and Rickie Fowler have collaborated with Arnie’s Army to honor Arnold ‘The King’ Palmer at this week’s API with limited-edition gear inspired by his life.
Cobra Puma golf athlete, Rickie Fowler, will don the gear at this week’s event which includes a new API Cobra x Vessel Stand Bag, unique headwear and a pair of IGNITE PROADAPT Palmer shoes.
Puma will sell a limited number of the same custom gear Fowler will be wearing and other items online and at select retailers, with the proceeds benefiting the Arnold & Winnie Palmer foundation.
Here’s a rundown of the 2020 Puma Golf API limited-edition collection:
IGNITE PROADAPT Palmer Shoes: ($250)
Designed to provide stability, power, and comfort, the look of the new shoes are inspired by Arnold Palmer’s favorite plane to fly and come in a white colorway with blue accents and a silver form stripe.
The shoe features ‘N1AP’ (the tail number of Mr Palmer’s plane) on the medial side, with 6 “windows” on the lateral side representing the six windows on Arnie’s favorite plane – the first production Cessna 750 Citation X. The sockliner of the shoe contains Palmer’s signature and the Puma cat logo.
IGNITE NXT Arnie Camo Shoes: ($150)
The outsole, heel and collar lining of the shoe features a four-color camo design inspired by Arnie’s Army in the same colors that make up the iconic Umbrella logo. The sockliner of the shoe features Palmer’s signature and the Puma cat logo.
API CAMO P110 Snapback Cap: ($35)
Featuring the iconic umbrella logo layered on an embroidered P – the hat comes in five colorways (White/Arnie Camo, Light Blue/Arnie Camo, White/Pink Arnie Camo and Black/Arnie Camo, Grey/Purple Arnie Camo). The purple hat pays homage to international women’s day, which takes place during the 2020 API.
N1AP Rope 110 Cap: ($35)
Available in three colorways (Light Blue, Pink, White), the caps feature the tail number of Palmer’s plane in an all-over design and are constructed 100% from polyester.
Bay Hill/Latrobe City Caps: ($35)
Available in either a Bay Hill (white with Pink lettering and green accent) or Latrobe (White with Green Lettering and pink accent) the caps represent two places synonymous with ‘The King’s’ legacy.
API PUMA + Vessel Stand Bag: ($599)
The limited-edition Cobra x Vessel collaboration Tour Stand Bag comes in a white & green colorway. It features a unique Arnie Camo pattern (mimicking the NXT Arnie shoes) inspired by the colors from his umbrella logo.
The bag contains heavy-duty zippers, durable PU material and a single strap and, per the company, is 60% lighter than typical Tour Staff bags.
Along with 2020 Puma Golf API limited-edition collection which Fowler will don this week, the 31-year-old will also play a one-off TaylorMade TP5 Pix ball at Bay Hill which features Palmer’s umbrella logo.
Puma Golf will also be hosting a ‘trunk show’ onsite during the week showcasing key pieces from its first, co-branded Puma x Arnold Palmer collection of apparel, footwear and accessories designed to honor Arnold Palmer’s legacy.
The collection is designed to be a modern take on the classic styles Arnold Palmer wore during his career, with added details that tell the story of “A Life Well Played.”, and spectators at this year’s event will be able to pre-order the gear ahead of the official launch in June 2020.
Additionally, Puma has also partnered with the Arnold Palmer team to raise funds for the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation by creating the Ultimate Golf Package that will be included in a sweepstake and open to anyone who donates to support the Foundation.
A limited number of Puma API caps, shoes, stand and staff bags, personally autographed by Fowler, will be included in the grand prize and as smaller prizes for donations. Those entered in the sweepstake will also have a chance to win a trip to Bay Hill for a private tour and a round of golf for themselves plus a guest.

54-hole golf tour deemed eligible for OWGR points…but it’s not LIV
After a seventeen-month application process, a 54-hole golf tour was deemed eligible for OWGR points.
Unfortunately, for LIV Golf and their fans, it was the Clutch Pro Tour.
After the decision, which is effective immediately, OWGR chairman Peter Dawson issued a statement.
“This is a significant milestone for golf, and OWGR is deeply encouraged by the achievement and the continued efforts in developing the sport of golf in the United Kingdom.”
“We look forward to watching the progress of the Clutch Pro Tour as it continues to play a key role in the development of players from the region,” Dawson added.

Charlie Woods attempting to qualify for spot at 2024 U.S. Open
As first reported by Bob Harig of Sports Illustrated, Charlie Woods will be attempting to qualify for this year’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2.
The first stage of qualifying for this year’s tournament will be an 18-hole local event on Thursday, April 25th, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
There will be 84 players in the field, five of which will reach the 36-hole qualifier that will take place in June.
Earlier this season, Charlie attempted to qualify for the Cognizant Classic, and struggled, shooting an 86.
If the younger Woods is able to qualify, he will tee it up in the same field as his father in a few months at one of the more historic U.S. Open venues.

Why Ludvig Aberg is my new favorite player – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing one of the new sensations in the world of golf – Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old finished solo second at the Masters a couple of weeks ago, and gained many plaudits, including from several WRXers.
- RELATED: ‘There were a number of red flags’ – Ludvig Aberg reveals why he turned down multiple LIV offers
One member, RoyalMustang, took to the forums to explain why Aberg is now their favorite player, saying:
“I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like “well, that’s golf!” Loose and relaxed: that’s the way to play. It’s obvious he loves what he’s doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all.
Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore.”
And our members have been reacting and sharing their positive takes on the young Swede.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- redfirebird08: “Ludvig has a great attitude, a great smile, and a great golf swing.”
- otto6457: “I’m very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech. He’s a truly nice guy and very friendly. Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling. Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy. He has “that sound” and trajectory to die for. There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind. World class ball striker. And yes……..I am a fan boy.”
- konklifer: “I like him. In an era of endless waggles and laboring, his swing and pace of play are a joy to watch.
