Tony Finau proves that Lag is the reason for clubhead speed, NOT width, NOT stretch.

If golf instructors could define Lag succinctly, we would all benefit.

I am 67 and been on a single figure hcp for over 45 yrs. I started playing at 21yrs old. Now I look forward to “painfree” golf. I do swing with the near full extension of my right arm that my left arm allows and have been doing this technique for the last 3 years. The result is I am hitting the ball further than normal with out any extra effort. It’s almost a single plain swing.

Suggest, Pita, “this technique” you ascribe to , “that my left arm allows”
simply means you have learned to use elevation and abduction of your left scapula.

The scapula is the only means to increase effect length of the left arm and depression and adduction of the right scapula the means to reduce the effect length of the right arm.

It is the left scapula that elevates and abducts (moves laterally away from the spine)
that allows the left arm to accommodate the right arm, while the right scapula
adducts (moves laterally loser to the spine)

This works for tony because he is really tall and has long arms for his height. Good luck with a swing like his if you are average height with a normal arm/height ratio.

It works for Tony because it is sound LAG,
no different than Ben Hogan, or Sergio Garcia. It has nothing to do with width or stretching.

Does anyone think that stretching is going to make your arms longer?
