Tweets of the Week: Vijay Singh’s Workout, Bubba’s Putting, flagstick in or out dilemma

Published

on

A stunning comeback from Xander Schauffele to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions quite rightly grabs the headlines today but here’s a look at some things you may have missed, and some of the quirkier moments from the world of golf dished out in the Twittersphere over the last week.

Bubba’s Putting

Another whacky video from Bubba Watson, showing him hole a crazy putt while stressing his confusion over the new flagstick rule in golf…

…and the confusion didn’t do him much good on the greens for the four days of action in Kapalua. Ouch.

Vijay’s Fitness Regime

Vijay Singh getting after it in 2019. Rocky Balboa style.

Keeping The Flagstick In

Bryson DeChambeau led the field in Kapalua for strokes gained putting, and the debate over whether to putt with the flagstick in or out just heated up.

Speaking of which, what do you reckon, does this putt go in if the flagstick is left in the hole?

Practicing Those Drops

Web.com Tour player Tee-K Kelly practicing his knee height drops. Drop number four is certainly an interesting one.

    @vijay

WAcking a tyre was wrong when Henry Cotton proposed it decades ago
    and its still wrong today.
The feel that the hands are hitting is wrong.

Angular momentum from Lag, not hands create clubhead speed.

I play in two senior clubs and already the flag stick rule is a JOKE. It has added close to a half hour to the rounds…I want the stick in, I want the stick out…guy from 14 feet no stick pull it, guy from 6 feet, I want the stick in put it back in…guy from 2 feet, let me line it up with stick then pull it when I say….COME ON Time to drop that rule is NOW.

Johnny Miller returns to the airwaves on Real Golf Talk, Callaway’s new podcast

Published

on

Johnny Miller is back sharing his opinions on the game on Callaway’s new podcast: Real Golf Talk, which aired its first episode today (listen here on Soundcloud).

The longtime NBC golf announcer retired from broadcasting earlier this year, but Miller now features alongside avid golfer and television host Chris Harrison on the podcast, which will air six episodes in 2019 and eight in future seasons.

Speaking on the opportunity to work alongside Johnny Miller on the podcast, co-host Chris Harrison stated

“Johnny Miller was a legend on the course and in the TV booth there was no equal. I know he’s got more to say on the world of golf and the world in general. There’s no chance I’m missing the opportunity to sit next to him and hear what he has to say.”

Miller (who, sidebar, will play all Callaway products) said this

“I am proud be returning to Callaway and working with the company’s incredible team on some exciting new projects. I’ve had so many great experiences with the company, from playing their equipment to working with Mr. Callaway and so many amazing people over the years. It feels like a homecoming for me, and I think golf fans will really enjoy what we have coming, starting with our new Real Golf Talk podcast.”

Real Golf Talk with Johnny Miller is a part of the Callaway Podcast Network and is available on Apple, Spotify, and Soundcloud.
