Here are a few posts from our members, but make sure to check out the entire thread and have your say on what the guys on Tour are driving at the link below.

  • Texas1: “If they earn the money they do, have at it. Love seeing Poulter’s collection. Has assembled a rather nice collection.”
  • MtlJeff: “Even if you can afford it what’s the point of like 35 cars? With how often these guys travel you’re driving some of them what, once every two years?”
  • dpb5031: “Not sure if he still has it, but when my daughter played golf with Rickie at the Bear’s Club he rolled in in a GTR.”

That old Caddy ragtop was a chick magnet… and Arnie filled it up with admirers… believe it.

Forum Thread of the Day: “Zach Johnson splits with caddie”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day was started by imakaveli, who began the thread regarding Zach Johnson’s split with long-term caddie Damon Green. The two men had been together for over 15 years, and after Green admitted that he was “shocked” when Johnson told him the news, our members discuss the possible reasons behind the break-up of their relationship.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • iBanesto: “ZJ’s 2018 form has been quite underwhelming. Plenty of top 25’s but not many top 10’s.”
  • Holy Moses: “Getting fired sucks, but I’d have to think that Damon has enough money to retire if he wanted to right now. The majority of caddies can’t say that.”
  • shoot4par: “Like most relationships (in life) depending on the level of success and shelf life good things die. People change and in business, if the relationships become unhealthy and jeopardize friendships…. then it’s time to go.”
  • IVM: “Caddie ain’t going to make any difference just wait and see.”

Forum Thread of the Day: “Why do so many people have an issue with Rory Sabbatini?”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from Hit em Good, who asks fellow GolfWRX members why they think that there is so much animosity from golf fans towards Rory Sabbatini. There are always two sides to every story, and in this thread, our members discuss the 42-year-old, along with other PGA Tour professionals.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • sdandrea: “I don’t know the man so I can’t pass judgement.  His face and body language to project a bit of impatience and negativity.  Could be that he is just very serious during competition. “
  • 27×10.5: “Something years ago about quitting Tigers tournament for shin splints while in last place then keeping the automatic $200k for showing up…not that I cared, but it was a big story then.”
  • Rosco1216: “I was playing with a local pro I know well.  He played 30 some PGA tour events in the early 2000s.  I randomly asked him who the most disliked guy on tour was, and without pause, “Rory Sabbatini without a doubt.”
  • BMC: “There was a story a few years ago at the Sony in Hawaii.  Rory S came in very early for a practice round and was paired with a husband and wife tourist twosome.  It’s a resort course.  The couple said he couldn’t have been nicer.  Helping them with their game and enjoying his company.  They ate lunch together after the round, and he picked up the tab.”

Forum Thread of the Day: “Best Country Club amenities?”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from regiwstruk, who asks fellow GolfWRX members what the best country club amenities are that they have experienced. Plenty of different and very cool facilities get a mention, and the thread gives an excellent insight into the little things that can genuinely enhance a golfers day out.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • burnsniper: “Hands down the best amenity is Child Care.  Our club will watch the little ones for up for 3 hours per day at no charge.  Gives you plenty of time to play nine (or more) or to go to the gym or a nice meal with the wife/friends.”
  • defnotapro: “Live in Texas and one of the simplest things, but don’t see it that often, is ice towels on the course. Especially when it’s over 95 and humid in Houston. I’ve learned just to throw a towel in the ice chest but would be really nice if they were on the course.”
  • ratspros: “A creative chef that can come up with amazing weekly and daily features is key. Nothing worse than ordering off the exact menu in the summer as you would in the spring or the fall.  You go from boring and almost regretting having to eat to excited for something fresh and different. In my opinion behind a great supper, the next most important position at a great club is the chef, even above the head professional.”
  • roadking2003: “I played Stonebriar in Dallas several years ago, and they had a cigar room.  That was wonderful.”
