Bubba Watson has Ping G400, Blueprint irons in the bag at Hero World Challenge
Bubba Watson has new clubs in the bag this week for the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. Watson had previously been gaming a Ping iBlade (2-iron) and Ping S55s (4-PW), however, for the end-of-year event, the American decided to test out the new Ping Blueprint irons.

As well as the iron change, Watson has also made the switch from his previous Ping G400 LST driver to the Ping G400. According to PGATour.com’s Andrew Tursky, the move was due to Watson desiring more spin off the tee to allow himself to curve the ball easier. You will also find the specifications of the new driver in the tweet below.

Watson performed well with the new clubs in the bag in the first round of the Hero World Challenge. The left-hander shot an opening round of 69, firing five birdies along the way, and currently sits inside the top-five at the event.

Those irons look sick. Would look even better in a mirror. Looks like forged hollow design is the future a d even Pros are playing them.

Just a scam to trick gearheads into a neurotic frazzle over a new toy they must have to prove their masculinity. “Golfers are gullible.” – Harvey Penick, Little Red Book, page 74…!

Good to see he still uses the +75 wraps of buildup tape. He looks like he’s holding the fat end of a baseball bat.

I love looking back at old threads and seeing Ping fanboys berate people for suggesting that Ping should make a true forged players iron.

Spin stabilizes a ball flight. Makes the spin axis more horizontal. Its why its almost impossible to curve a wedge. He’s going to have to work harder to curve this club all else being equal. For the same reasons you have to work harder to curve a 6 iron than you do a 4 iron.

Very true, Matt…. and that’s why the D-plane ball flight analysis doesn’t fully work for high lofted clubs… only the driver.
