Lesson of the Day: Better takeaway, better swing

Published

on

In our “Lesson of the Day” video series with V1 Sports, we match a different GolfWRX member with a different V1 Sports instructor each day. It’s extremely important to both V1 Sports and GolfWRX to help golfers improve their games and shoot lower scores, and there’s no better way to do that than getting lessons. While we not only want to provide free lessons to select GolfWRX members, we want to encourage and inspire golfers to seek professional instruction. For instructions on how to submit your own video for a chance at getting a free lesson from a V1 Sports instructor as part of our Lesson of the Day series, CLICK HERE.

In today’s video Richard Hughes teaches GolfWRX Member Michael Calcagni how to improve his takeaway to get his arms and body more linked up, which leads to better rotation and a better position at impact.

Hughes is a Fellow of the PGA and coaches players of all abilities, raw novices, improvers, low handicap players and Professional players. Based at the Golf Centre in the UK, Richard has built a renowned coaching reputation and is a specialist in teaching with cutting edge technology to include launch monitors, pressure plates and 3D motion capture. Richard delivers coach education seminars around the world to other PGA Professionals. His seminar is called Teaching with Technology.

Richard, you said his shoulder rotation stalled, but that can only occur if the hip rotation blocks just prior to impact and the hips and shoulders are rotating in unison. The golfer’s X-factor mechanics are faulty and that compromises the Kinetic Energy Chain.

Hips dont rotate from top of BS because the left big toe is hawked into the ground from top of BS.
      That locks the hips.

Seems MC trys to keep his hips from turning in BS. As though he wants more X factor, one of the worst golf instructions in history.

Best putting machine ever: You

Published

on

So many professionals on different tours struggle with their putting — and then they wonder why amateurs are struggling. It is high time (because of my success as a putting coach is less known but no less successful) that they let another coach take a crack at it with very real science and anatomy to back it all up.

I’m talking about every aspect of putting (from stance, to distance to ball, to posture, to alignment, to distance control, to speed of entry, to psychology). You will love how incredibly basic and sophisticated this video is and how easily it will be to apply for you. Enjoy the lower scores and freedom!
