Hidden Gem of the Day: Buffalo Rock Golf and Gun Club in Cushing, Oklahoma

Published

on

These aren’t the traditional “top-100” golf courses in America, or the ultra-private golf clubs you can’t get onto. These are the hidden gems; they’re accessible to the public, they cost less than $50, but they’re unique, beautiful and fun to play in their own right. We recently asked our GolfWRX Members to help us find these “hidden gems.” We’re treating this as a bucket list of golf courses to play across the country, and the world. If you have a personal favorite hidden gem, submit it here!

Today’s Hidden Gem of the Day was posted by GolfWRX member Fotsguy, who takes us to Buffalo Rock Golf and Gun Club in Cushing, Oklahoma. The Perry Maxwell designed course prides itself on its pure greens, which were re-grassed with Dominant X-Treme Bent Grass recently, and in Fotsguy’s description of the course, he praises the maintenance of the track, and also the facilities.

“This is a Perry Maxwell design course (Front 9) and is just a great time. Its never crowded as its an hour from Tulsa, and the owner seems to love it, so it is always maintained. Also has a great steakhouse as part of the clubhouse.”

According to Buffalo Rock Golf and Gun Club’s website, a weekday tee-time will set you back $35, and to play on the weekend costs $40. Should you wish to walk and play, the rates start at just $10.

The course rating is strong, with a 74.2 rating on a par 71 (7007 yards from the tips), and even from the second tee you get 1.3 strokes.”
