Forum Thread of the Day: “Driver vs Driver 2”
Today’s Forum Thread of the Day is from NixLix26, who began the thread dedicated to Wilson Golf’s reality TV show that pits driver designs against each other. The second season is in its final stages with just three designs left, and the show which airs on Golf Channel on Tuesday nights has generated a lot of discussion amongst our members.
Here’s a look at what some of our members are saying about the show, but make sure to check out the entire thread at the link below.
- Golfer_1993: “I like Cortex. Like Kyle Maze (Cart Barn Guys) said, the adjustability is simple to understand, and I like that. Plus the sound was amazing, and all the testers got good carry and total distances. His performance has been great in the last three episodes.”
- Mtngolfer1: “The Cortex was the longest driver of them all even with the lower smash factor it was a clear distance winner.”
- RichieHunt: “That brings it to the Magnus and the Cortex. I thought the Magnus clearly outperformed the Cortex. Higher smash factors and remember, it tested the best out of any driver on the Iron Byron testing in terms of accuracy, particularly off the toe and the heel. Hard to beat a driver that has the best smash factor, doesn’t spin like crazy and is the most forgiving and accurate.”

Why Ludvig Aberg is my new favorite player – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing one of the new sensations in the world of golf – Ludvig Aberg. The 24-year-old finished solo second at the Masters a couple of weeks ago, and gained many plaudits, including from several WRXers.
- RELATED: ‘There were a number of red flags’ – Ludvig Aberg reveals why he turned down multiple LIV offers
One member, RoyalMustang, took to the forums to explain why Aberg is now their favorite player, saying:
“I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like “well, that’s golf!” Loose and relaxed: that’s the way to play. It’s obvious he loves what he’s doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all.
Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore.”
And our members have been reacting and sharing their positive takes on the young Swede.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- redfirebird08: “Ludvig has a great attitude, a great smile, and a great golf swing.”
- otto6457: “I’m very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech. He’s a truly nice guy and very friendly. Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling. Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy. He has “that sound” and trajectory to die for. There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind. World class ball striker. And yes……..I am a fan boy.”
- konklifer: “I like him. In an era of endless waggles and laboring, his swing and pace of play are a joy to watch.

Wilson does make a good football, but that’s about it.

This show confirms that Wilson has no idea what they’re doing when it comes to drivers. Just another reason NOT to play a w/s driver. If the clowns off the street are coming up with better ideas than Wilson’s r&d, there’s a big problem. It’ll be another huge failure like the last dvd show.

Time for pros to go back to mid sized drivers then companies can go crazy on new drivers for amateurs. Personally I don’t know anyone who buys a driver because there favourite pro uses it anyways. Should get rid of driver wedge amount for pros though. Maybe the tour could even have an event allowing illegal equipment on short courses. Really though extending courses is getting silly.

So bottom line, Wilson’s R&D department is looking for clowns on the street to design their new products because in the end, its is only a cosmetic change because the USGA rule limits OEMs to no longer improving performance results? That’s why there has been nothing delivering better performance results in equipment the last 5-7 years….
