Peter Kessler lashed out at anyone and everyone on Twitter

Published

on

With 140K followers on Twitter and a website as well, No Laying Up have become one of the most popular accounts in the golfing world. However, when the group plugged the second season of their show Tourist Sauce” with a new promo, it provoked a strong response from “the voice of golf,” former Golf Channel and PGA Tour host, writer, and producer, Peter Kessler. (Kessler responded to Green Jacket Auctions, who praised NLU’s work).

Kessler, no stranger to speaking his mind, then spent hours feuding with fellow social media users who defended No Laying Up’s promo. As is often the case in the world of social media, the arguments descended into personal insults, on which Kessler did not hold back.

Consider these tweets representative of dozens more in the same vein.

Although Kessler was firmly in attack mode, he had to be on his guard when @ProV1_iron took aim at his Perfect Club infomercials from back in the day. The spots are largely a humorous relic in the golfing world, but Kessler was having none of the “people in glass houses” analogy.

The responses from Kessler went on and on, and many had been expecting the ex-Golf Channel host cool off after yesterday’s exploits. However, the opposite happened, with Kessler getting right back in the saddle this morning and continuing his tirade against defenders of the show, with Kessler claiming NLU’s promo “is like intro to entertainment in 9th grade and school just started. Surely you’ve seen good movies and tv shows. These aren’t them.”

Despite saying that he has “Gotta run,” Kessler remains locked in a battle of personal insults with other social media users.

What do you make of Peter Kessler’s social media outburst, GolfWRX members?

I only watch The Golf Channel when an actual tournament is broadcast. When Peter Kessler was on, I was watching. Very insightful, easy to listen to, and he talked TO YOU! Now we have the arrogant Learner & Chamblee (local Putt-Putt Champion), and the dopes in the morning! Too bad, it was fun to watch while it lasted.

Just as loud, belligerent, and arrogant as he was when he used to play golf at Metro West in Orlando. You could hear him from across the course….

Loved Peter when on the Golf Channel. How can I get in touch with him? I have a question about a golf instructor he interviewed on GC one day.
    Thanks.

This article should read… “A day with Peter Kessler, corked on Kessler”. Now that’s entertainment…

Middle aged guys sometimes nose over the edge a bit, especially as they notice their vitality ebbing and their relevance fading. Hopefully he can pull back from the cliff and recover some dignity.

When the Golf Channel was in its infancy, they scrounged up a nobody called Peter Kessler who — due to understaffing — hosted four or five shows at once, then allowed his ego to convince himself that he was actually an Important Talent which was MILES from accurate. When the self-important Kessler was shown the door screaming, he then lent his “voice of golf” to the oh-so-vital ‘Perfect Club’ infomercial which, I suppose, is the broadcast equivalent of being the early-morning host of Wake Up Amarillo (Weekend Edition.) Kessler, sitting dormant for the past 10 years, listens to Tony Robbins “you can do it!” tapes and today has convinced himself that the golf world is desperately, eagerly awaiting his next vital pronouncements on sport, life and how a useless dick can arise from the dead by the simple act of being annoying. Please allow this useless troll to continue his pathetic cries for relevance to go unanswered.

    Who is Peter Kessler again?

Answer: someone who disappeared when he thought he was bigger then golf and Arnold Palmer when he left The Golf Channel. (Also see Holly Saunders).

If Peter is the forgotten man with some this ridiculous and vindictive article just made him famous again. “All publicity is good publicity”. Gianni unwittingly has made Peter a star.

      • Crusher

        Nov 1, 2018 at 12:15 am

A star of what? I doubt this article (with less then 50 viewer responses) will do anything to bring anyone back on the map again. Unless the Perfect Club #2 will be coming out. Maybe they will sell “two-thirds of a million” clubs. That might do it…..

“All publicity is good publicity, as long as they spell your name right.” … “All publicity is good if it is intelligent.” “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” “There’s no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary.”

It’s Peter. That was fantastic. Enjoyed it. I wish you’d used my most clever lines. Hard for each one to be incredible. I’ll keep at it. Call me anytime. 4072472192. Peterkessler@me.com. I only read it once. Will read some more. Fun????????????? I’m working on something. If I pull it off you get an exclusive. I think the pic looks good. Girls like that one. You do know this all amuses me, right? I laugh as I think of replies. It really helps sharpen my writing too for I’m trying to write a book. I’ve done everything. A book is a whole other world. But I’m trying to be a historian on twitter and amusing and take on anything like poorly made media content obviously. And all things Beatles or Paul . My daughter is sure I want to make out with him. I was acting like an asshole on Twitter till late August when I figured out my current persona. Thanks again. All the best. ?????Pk

At GolfWRX, we love golf equipment plain and simple

We are a community of like-minded individuals that all experience and express our enjoyment for the game in many ways. It’s that sense of community that drives day-to-day interactions in the forums on topics that range from best driver to what marker you use to mark your ball, it even allows us to share another thing – the equipment itself.

One of the best ways to enjoy equipment is to experiment and whether you are looking to buy-sell-or trade (as the name suggests) you can find almost anything in the GolfWRX BST Forum. From one-off custom Scotty Cameron Circle T putters, to iron sets, wedges, and barely hit drivers, you can find it all in our constantly updated marketplace.

These are some of the latest cool finds from the GolfWRX BST, and if you are curious about the rules to participate in the BST Forum you can check them out here: GolfWRX BST Rules

Member jadedennill – Scotty Cameron CX-01

What a great price for a limited edition putter. This Scotty Cameron CX-01 is only 1 of 500 and offers a very unique look in a higher MOI blade design.

Member nc2lane – Foresight GC Quad

This ad feels like the classic episode of “The Simpsons,” where the family travels to a quiet east coast beach town and Lisa reinvents herself for the summer. To reinvent her look she takes her mom shopping for clothes and while off-camera you here “Mom come quick BRING MONEY!”

Well, you better bring the money, because state-of-the-art launch monitors don’t come cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for with the GC Quad from Foresight.

Member TheGriftKings – Unicorn 2015 8.5 M2 Driver

This is still one of the best and most sought after TaylorMade tour issue drivers of all time. This head is in amazing shape—basically new and at 8.5 degrees of loft, it’s even rarer.

Check out Tiger Woods’ incredible handicap index history from his entire career

Published

on

Ever wondered what Tiger Woods’ handicap index has been throughout his career? Well, one statistician, Lou Stagner of Decade Golf, did some serious number crunching and the results are fascinating.

From 1996 right through to today, Stagner used course rating and slope for each course in his research and calculated a differential for each round to find out what Tiger’s index would have been each year of his pro career.

You can see the impressive results in the graph below.

@loustagner

The results show that Woods was at his very best handicap wise in 2008 when he bossed a +9.4 index, his average index was +6.7 throughout his career, his current index is 6.5, and as Stagner noted, he was +7 or better for 35% of his handicap revisions.

It’s also worth noting that the results are not adjusted to tournament conditions. Not bad, eh?

Henrik Stenson: Fan-less Ryder Cup is better than nothing

Published

on

@pgatour

On Thursday, ‘Henrik Stenson Almost An Hour’ podcast presented by Callaway Golf aired for the first time, with the Swede sharing his thoughts on his playing schedule going forward, the tour’s return as well as a potential spectator-less Ryder Cup.

On the new bi-weekly podcast, Stenson described the potential of a Ryder Cup with no fans as being “very blunt”, but did stress that even a spectator-less Ryder Cup is better than no Ryder Cup at all.

“For the atmosphere and for the feeling, for us as players that would be, very blunt, it would be something that you can’t really imagine at this point.

Then looking at the bigger picture, if that’s the only way that the Ryder Cup can go ahead, and if it’s not an option to play it next year with crowds, with fans, then I would prefer to play a Ryder Cup than to not play a Ryder Cup.”

Stenson revealed he wouldn’t be returning to the U.S. until mid-July, and he’s expecting the first couple of week’s back to be “messy” as the players and officials adjust to the new conditions.

“I’ll sit out a few weeks and see how everything gets going. I think it might be a little bit more messy the first couple of weeks as well before everyone finds their bearings with testing and everything.

So I’ll watch it from the couch the first couple of weeks and most likely then with the current restrictions I will travel over in mid-July to Lake Nona. I’ll have a couple of weeks of practice and then I’ll tee it up at the WGC FedEx tournament in Memphis.”

Once the 44-year-old does get Stateside again, you can expect to see him often as he plans to play “every week up until Christmas.”

“And once I get over and start playing, I can pretty much play every week up until Christmas. Because (there’s) going to be lots of golf tournaments, and it’s not going to be a shortage. So I’m just kind of tweaking my return a little bit and will probably play a bit more in the fall.”

‘Henrik Stenson Almost An Hour’ podcast presented by Callaway Golf will air every other Thursday here.
