Peter Kessler lashed out at anyone and everyone on Twitter

Published

on

With 140K followers on Twitter and a website as well, No Laying Up have become one of the most popular accounts in the golfing world. However, when the group plugged the second season of their show Tourist Sauce” with a new promo, it provoked a strong response from “the voice of golf,” former Golf Channel and PGA Tour host, writer, and producer, Peter Kessler. (Kessler responded to Green Jacket Auctions, who praised NLU’s work).

Kessler, no stranger to speaking his mind, then spent hours feuding with fellow social media users who defended No Laying Up’s promo. As is often the case in the world of social media, the arguments descended into personal insults, on which Kessler did not hold back.

Consider these tweets representative of dozens more in the same vein.

Although Kessler was firmly in attack mode, he had to be on his guard when @ProV1_iron took aim at his Perfect Club infomercials from back in the day. The spots are largely a humorous relic in the golfing world, but Kessler was having none of the “people in glass houses” analogy.

The responses from Kessler went on and on, and many had been expecting the ex-Golf Channel host cool off after yesterday’s exploits. However, the opposite happened, with Kessler getting right back in the saddle this morning and continuing his tirade against defenders of the show, with Kessler claiming NLU’s promo “is like intro to entertainment in 9th grade and school just started. Surely you’ve seen good movies and tv shows. These aren’t them.”

Despite saying that he has “Gotta run,” Kessler remains locked in a battle of personal insults with other social media users.

What do you make of Peter Kessler’s social media outburst, GolfWRX members?

I only watch The Golf Channel when an actual tournament is broadcast. When Peter Kessler was on, I was watching. Very insightful, easy to listen to, and he talked TO YOU! Now we have the arrogant Learner & Chamblee (local Putt-Putt Champion), and the dopes in the morning! Too bad, it was fun to watch while it lasted.

Just as loud, belligerent, and arrogant as he was when he used to play golf at Metro West in Orlando. You could hear him from across the course….

Loved Peter when on the Golf Channel. How can I get in touch with him? I have a question about a golf instructor he interviewed on GC one day.
    Thanks.

This article should read… “A day with Peter Kessler, corked on Kessler”. Now that’s entertainment…

Middle aged guys sometimes nose over the edge a bit, especially as they notice their vitality ebbing and their relevance fading. Hopefully he can pull back from the cliff and recover some dignity.

When the Golf Channel was in its infancy, they scrounged up a nobody called Peter Kessler who — due to understaffing — hosted four or five shows at once, then allowed his ego to convince himself that he was actually an Important Talent which was MILES from accurate. When the self-important Kessler was shown the door screaming, he then lent his “voice of golf” to the oh-so-vital ‘Perfect Club’ infomercial which, I suppose, is the broadcast equivalent of being the early-morning host of Wake Up Amarillo (Weekend Edition.) Kessler, sitting dormant for the past 10 years, listens to Tony Robbins “you can do it!” tapes and today has convinced himself that the golf world is desperately, eagerly awaiting his next vital pronouncements on sport, life and how a useless dick can arise from the dead by the simple act of being annoying. Please allow this useless troll to continue his pathetic cries for relevance to go unanswered.

    Who is Peter Kessler again?

Answer: someone who disappeared when he thought he was bigger then golf and Arnold Palmer when he left The Golf Channel. (Also see Holly Saunders).

If Peter is the forgotten man with some this ridiculous and vindictive article just made him famous again. “All publicity is good publicity”. Gianni unwittingly has made Peter a star.

      • Crusher

        Nov 1, 2018 at 12:15 am

A star of what? I doubt this article (with less then 50 viewer responses) will do anything to bring anyone back on the map again. Unless the Perfect Club #2 will be coming out. Maybe they will sell “two-thirds of a million” clubs. That might do it…..

“All publicity is good publicity, as long as they spell your name right.” … “All publicity is good if it is intelligent.” “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” “There’s no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary.”

It’s Peter. That was fantastic. Enjoyed it. I wish you’d used my most clever lines. Hard for each one to be incredible. I’ll keep at it. Call me anytime. 4072472192. Peterkessler@me.com. I only read it once. Will read some more. Fun????????????? I’m working on something. If I pull it off you get an exclusive. I think the pic looks good. Girls like that one. You do know this all amuses me, right? I laugh as I think of replies. It really helps sharpen my writing too for I’m trying to write a book. I’ve done everything. A book is a whole other world. But I’m trying to be a historian on twitter and amusing and take on anything like poorly made media content obviously. And all things Beatles or Paul . My daughter is sure I want to make out with him. I was acting like an asshole on Twitter till late August when I figured out my current persona. Thanks again. All the best. ?????Pk

Seniors disqualified after playing the wrong ball at Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship

Published

on

On Friday, both Paul Lawrie and Carl Mason were disqualified from the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship after mistakenly playing each other’s golf ball.

Lawrie took to social media to explain what had occurred, stating how the two played the wrong ball, both of which had similar markings, on the fifth hole, and didn’t realize their error until the seventh hole.

Both players were disqualified from the event after being in breach of rule Rule 6.3, which says

A player must not make a stroke at a wrong ball.

In stroke play, the player must correct the mistake by continuing play with the original ball by playing it as it lies or taking relief under the Rules –

  • The stroke made with the wrong ball and any more strokes before the mistake is corrected (including strokes made and any penalty strokes solely from playing that ball) do not count.
  • If the player does not correct the mistake before making a stroke to begin another hole or, for the final hole of the round, before returning his or her scorecard, the player is disqualified.

A great event ran by @thehivegc, @blsully18 and @ccwoodmore. Golfing from sunrise to sunset is tiring but tons of great shots, terrible shots and lots of laughs. Roughly 80 holes plus or minus a couple (lost count ????) _ Golf is more than a game and sometimes we all lose sight of that (me included). There are ups and downs but enjoy the journey. #playorperish . . . . . #golf #golfer #golfers #golfing #golfaddict #golfislife #carryyourclubs #burningcartsociety #golfphotography #instagolf #instagolfer #greatview #enjoy #golfismorethanagame #summersolstice #golfbabes #golfwrx #teamcallaway #callaway #lambcrafted #mackenziegolfbags #sugarloafsocialclub #ustmamiya #teamustm #walk #enjoythejourney #content #sunset

On a technical scale, twisted necks are one of the trickiest things for me to make by hand. On a machinist scale, nailing down surface finishes on a specific material over time is very involved. Not to mention how difficult it can be to get inlays of organic material to fit in metal. As far as finishes go, this might be the most time I have ever spent on one putter. Hand stamping evenly and having consistent letter depth can be super tricky and takes so many hours of practice it's not even funny. Running weld beads on a part you've invested countless hours in might be the most nerve racking state of mind to be in to try and not let your hand slip or wobble. Having experience over time with a literal bin of scrapped parts is all that can make you better. I can say from first hand experience, I know probably a 1000 ways of how not to make a putter. I try and learn and get better with every single piece I make. I want the next part I make to always be a learning opportunity for me to get better. After all of that is said and done, I offically give you the 3rd iteration in my personal Signature Series. As an homage to the first I have revisited pearl with an intense variation I couldn't be more pleased with. #signatureseries#olsonmfg

Golfer DQ’d from Challenge Tour event after running out of golf balls

Published

on

Challenge Tour golfer Clément Berardo was DQ’d at the Andalucía-Costa del Sol Match Play 9 event in Spain having run out of golf balls on the 16th hole during his opening round.

Beginning his round with a quadruple bogey, the Frenchman, who had missed four of his last five cuts entering the tournament, added two more bogeys to post a six-over opening nine of 41.

Berardo, who is ranked 1,909th in the world, continued to struggle on the back nine of the Valle Romano golf course, eventually running out of balls on the par-5 16th hole when he was 10-over par.

The 32-year-old is reportedly the first known player to be DQ’d after running out of balls since John Daly suffered the same fate after striking seven consecutive shots into the water during a round at the 2011 Australian Open.
