Looks like Tiger is exploring some innovative solutions to his putting woes…

Published

on

Tiger Woods was 39th in strokes gained: putting in 2018. Historically an excellent putter, Woods was hot-and-cold with the flatstick, even benching his soulmate Scotty Cameron Newport 2.

It looks like Woods may have an ace in the hole for the upcoming season, however, with respect to his green reading and putt sinking. Check out this video posted to his Instagram from the Tiger Woods Invitational on the Monterey Peninsula earlier this week.

Good thing the USGA is restricting the use of green-reading devices and technologies, because this kid looks close to cracking the eternal mystery of the perfect marriage of line and speed for every putt.

Cool stuff, though, isn’t it? It’s also cool to see Tiger so genuinely excited about his “mentee.”

We all know the story of how, after September 11, Woods re-evaluated his charitable endeavors and began to conceive of the Tiger Woods Learning Center. He’s spoken passionately about the students who have made their way through the various programs in the past, and there’s no doubt he cares deeply about the TGR Foundation’s efforts, but seeing a thin slice of that reality is awesome.

That was a little uncomfortable to watch.

Tiger’s response to making that putt was bigger than in any of his 80 victories!

Florida man sues Tiger Woods and Joe LaCava over incident at 2018 Valspar

Published

on

A Florida man is suing Tiger Woods and his caddie, Joe LaCava, claiming that the latter intentionally shoved him at the 2018 Valspar Championship causing him injury.

As first reported by the Tampa Bay Times, the Pasco County resident attempted to take a selfie with Woods on the par-3 13th hole during the third round of play at the Valspar where he alleges LaCava pushed him “causing him to stumble and fall into the crowd of spectators”, per the lawsuit.

Though the lawsuit does not go into specifics, it is claimed that the shove caused Brian Borruso to be hospitalized – both losing the ability to earn income and also aggravating an existing health condition. Borruso is looking for more than $30k for damages caused.

Borruso’s attorney, Josh Drechsel, stated that the PGA has refused to cooperate and claims that the incident has been caught on camera.

Woods has been named in the suit as LaCava was employed, managed or directed by him at the time and according to rule 10.3 of the USGA’s rules: “A player is responsible for his or her caddie’s actions both during a round and while play is stopped under 5.7a, but not before or after a round.”

Tiger Woods hosts Champions Dinner – ‘quarantine style’

Published

on

Tiger Woods hasn’t let the postponement of the 2020 Masters stop him from enjoying his April Champions Dinner, doing so ‘quarantine style’.

In a post on Twitter, a beaming Woods, in the company of his children Sam and Charlie and his girlfriend Erica Herman, is seen hosting his own Champions Dinner with probably the greatest table centerpiece that’s ever been seen.

Woods had initially planned on serving sushi, fajitas and milkshakes at Augusta National this week, saying earlier this year:

“Being born and raised in SoCal, having fajitas and sushi was a part of my entire childhood, and I’m going back to what I had in 2006.

So, we’ll have steak and chicken fajitas, and we’ll have sushi and sashimi out on the deck, and I hope the guys will enjoy it.”

The 44-year-old will get the chance to serve his guests just that in November when the 2020 Masters gets underway.
