Sergio Garcia uncorks a sick Nick Faldo burn

Published

on

Sergio Garcia was, in some circles at least, a controversial addition to Thomas Bjorn’s Ryder Cup squad.

Amidst one of his worst seasons, Garcia got the nod as a vital ingredient of European team chemistry.

Happily, for the Europeans, Garcia contributed more than just backslapping and banter at Le Golf National: he won three points in four matches, taking down Rickie Fowler 2 & 1 in their Sunday singles match.

In doing so, Garcia became the European side’s top point getter. When asked about the accomplishment, the Spaniard couldn’t help but take a shot at the man he passed on the list.

“This means a lot to me,” Garcia said. “I have passed some of my heroes today—and Nick Faldo.”

Burn! Faldo, of course, captain of the 2008 European team, famously said Garcia had been “useless” in the competition at Valhalla in which he went 0-2-2.

It’s like they always say, “revenge is a dish best served after you break the Ryder Cup all-time points record of the man who threw shade at you years ago.”

Cheers, Sergio!

Oh whoopee Sergio is a hero in a “Made for TV” golf show…In the world of REAL professional golf Sergio cannot hold a candle to what Nick Faldo has accomplished….

I can’t stand either one of them. Mr. grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, grip, re-grip, swing – gets on my last nerve.

What would you rather have? Most Ryder Cup points or Majors?

congrats to Sergio’s record, however, he ain’t half the champion Faldo was. Sergio: so much talent, so little results (exc Ryder cup of course)

Great performance this weekend from Sergio but regardless of Faldo’s occasional foot in mouth episode he has now shown himself in the same light. Plus, he has just called out a 6-time Major champ. I expect Sir Nick is having the last laugh.

When was the last time you sipped champagne after contributing to a Ryder Cup victory?

Americans are in no position to be telling anyone how to drink. Least of all champagne, which is for winners.

Last year, Cleveland Golf introduced Grandpa Jamie (Canadian long drive professional Jamie Sadlowski), the pensioner who can bomb it 350-plus yards effortlessly, in a viral video which garnered over four million views on YouTube.

Well, Grandpa Jamie is back, and he’s been pranking unsuspecting golfers on his weekend getaway in Orange County,

This time, however, he’s brought along Uncle Jake (9-time PGA Tour winner Peter Jacobsen), and you can check out all of the fun and games the two got up to while catching poor unsuspecting golfers off guard in the embedded tweet below.
