WATCH: Joe Durant misses short tap-in, loses by 1

Published

on

Joe Durant stood over — really, alongside — a short putt for par at the 17th hole at the Shaw Charity Classic yesterday. And, well, just watch.

Of course, you already know he finished one stroke out the tournament-deciding playoff, because, well, that’s just how the golf gods roll.

Now, obviously this is a terrible occurrence for Mr. Durant. And it’s even more terrible because he’s playing a yellow golf ball, isn’t it? Somehow, that just makes it worse, adding an unwanted element of comic silliness. But the best part of this video is Durant, who so casually attempted to brush in his putt, not knowing what level of care to give the remaining tap-in.

You can almost see him thinking, “Well, I was just sweepin’ that baby in, and this one’s even shorter, so, I ought to do the same. OK, I’m going to do that. Wait, the golf gods clearly didn’t appreciate my cavalier approach to the first putt. I better treat this one with more gravity. Should I get the ball marker. Yep. I’m going to get it. I’m marking, and I’m going to make sure I really tamp that thing down. OK. I’m going to go for a little walk here.” Jimenez in the background like, “Have an Amarone and forget about it, my friend.”

Rough stuff. Durant will want to make pilgrimage to the temple of the golf gods to make offerings and pay his respects in haste.

Bryson DeChambeau’s latest message to slow play critics: “Screw all y’all haters”

Published

on

Just a few of days after vowing to step up his attempts to improve his pace of play, a video has surfaced from this Wednesday’s Pro-Am at Medinah of DeChambeau defending his pace at last week’s event and attacking his critics.

The video which you can see here at the Twitter account @DMeyer06, appears to be taken on a fans Snapchat account, and within it DeChambeau states

“I was never on the clock last week, y’all can say whatever you want, but we’re having a fu**ing good time. So screw all y’all haters”

DeChambeau’s message in the Snapchat video looks to contradict the statement he posted to his Instagram account on Monday where he said

“I’m constantly trying to improve and I will do my very best to improve my pace.”

DeChambeau is currently in action at this week’s BMW Championship where he posted a score of 1 under par in his opening round.
